Abstract

A system and method for detecting a failure of a set of memory cells in a memory device, determining a recovery indicator associated the failure, the recovery indicator corresponding to a subset of cells of the set of memory cells, and the subset of cells having a threshold voltage above a read level, where the read level corresponds to a per-cell memory density of the plurality of cells of the memory device, determining a data recovery operation based on whether the recovery indicator satisfies a threshold condition, the threshold condition corresponding to the read level, and causing the data recovery operation to be performed on the set of memory cells.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein performing the data recovery operation further comprises:

responsive to the recovery indicator not satisfying the threshold condition, causing a read error handling (REH) recovery operation to be performed on the set of memory cells.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the recovery indicator does not satisfy the threshold condition when a failure count of the subset of cells is less than an expected failure count.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the threshold condition is defined during production of the memory device.

9. A method comprising:

detecting, by a processing device, a failure exhibited by a set of memory cells of a plurality of cells of a memory device;
