Abstract

A proppant delivery assembly receives and supports a plurality of containers having proppant stored therein. A cradle has a top surface which receives and supports the plurality of containers when positioned thereon. The cradle enables the plurality of containers to dispense the proppant stored therein. A proppant mover is positioned to underlie and extend along the top surface of the cradle aligned with the plurality of containers to receive proppant from the plurality of containers. The proppant mover carries proppant away from the plurality of containers. A chute is coupled to the cradle for receiving proppant from the proppant mover and directing the proppant to a blender hopper. A hood assembly is disposed at an end of the chute opposite the proppant mover for directing a vacuum air flow that removes a volume of air containing proppant dust particles directed from the chute. The hood assembly includes a curtain extending about a perimeter of the hood assembly and downward therefrom to at least partially define the volume of air being removed by the hood assembly.

Claims (30)

1 . A method of collecting dust particles, the method comprising:

dispensing proppant through an opening in a proppant container via gravity feed onto a proppant mover;

moving the proppant along the proppant mover towards a chute;

depositing the proppant into the chute;

using an engine coupled to an air mover to generate a suction pressure in one or more tubes, a manifold, and a hood assembly, wherein the hood assembly is disposed at an end of the chute opposite the proppant mover and the one or more tubes fluidically connect the manifold to the hood assembly;

creating an air flow across the hood assembly, wherein a direction of the air flow is opposite to a direction of proppant flow through the chute;

using the air flow to collect the dust particles formed by movement and settling of the proppant on the proppant mover and within the chute; and

transporting the dust particles along the one or more tubes and the manifold to the air mover.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising directing the dust particles out of a discharge of the air mover, through a flexible hose to a removable drum.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising selecting the air flow to be sufficient to collect and transport dust particles and to be insufficient to collect and transport proppant grains.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising filtering the air flow using a filter element installed in the air mover to remove dust particles from the air flow.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving the proppant container on a cradle, wherein the proppant mover is disposed beneath and extends along a length of the cradle.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein collecting the dust particles further comprises preventing proppant from entering the one or more tubes using a screen disposed in the hood assembly.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising moving the proppant from the chute to a blender hopper.

8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising using the air flow across the hood assembly to collect the dust particles formed by movement and settling of the proppant in the blender hopper.

9 . A proppant delivery assembly comprising:

a proppant container disposed above a proppant mover, wherein the proppant container comprises an opening configured to dispense proppant onto the proppant mover;

a chute connected to the proppant mover, wherein the proppant mover is configured to move the proppant to the chute;

a hood assembly disposed at an end of the chute opposite the proppant mover;

one or more tubes connected to the hood assembly;

a manifold connected to the one or more tubes;

an air mover, coupled with an engine, connected to the manifold at an end of the manifold opposite the one or more tubes, wherein the air mover is configured to generate a suction pressure in the manifold, the one or more tubes, and the hood assembly to create an air flow that flows opposite a direction of proppant flow through the chute and the air flow is configured to collect dust particles formed by movement and settling of the proppant on the proppant mover and within the chute.

10 . The proppant delivery assembly of claim 9 , further comprising a flexible hose connected to a discharge of the air mover and a removable drum, wherein the flexible hose is configured to direct the dust particles from the discharge of the air mover to the removable drum.

11 . The proppant delivery assembly of claim 9 , further comprising a filter element installed in the air mover configured to remove dust particles from the air flow.

12 . The proppant delivery assembly of claim 9 , further comprising a cradle, wherein the cradle is configured to receive the proppant container and the proppant mover is disposed beneath and extends along a length of the cradle.

13 . The proppant delivery assembly of claim 9 , further comprising a screen disposed in the hood assembly, wherein the screen is configured to prevent proppant from entering the one or more tubes.

14 . The proppant delivery assembly of claim 9 , further comprising a blender hopper configured to receive the proppant from the chute.

15 . The proppant delivery assembly of claim 14 , wherein the hood assembly is disposed over the blender hopper.

16 . The proppant delivery assembly of claim 15 , wherein the air flow is configured to collect the dust particles formed by movement and settling of the proppant in the blender hopper.

17 . The proppant delivery assembly of claim 16 , further comprising a dust receptacle fluidically connected to the one or more tubes and located within a hood section of the hood assembly, wherein the dust receptacle is configured to receive the dust particles using the air flow.
