Abstract

Embodiments described herein generally relate to searching of media items associated with one or more keywords. Content search features may be generated and configured to receive search scope selections. A root level limitation may be associated with a folder within a media organization architecture. A query limitation may be associated with the content search features. In certain embodiments, means for automatically correcting the search scope selections to satisfy the query limitation are provided.

Claims (39)

1. A method for providing customized searches, the method comprising:

storing information regarding different locations within a content storage architecture, wherein each location is associated with a query limitation and one or more custom search parameters;

generating a graphical user interface for display at a user device for a user accessing a search application over a communication network, wherein the graphical user interface includes one or more graphical control elements corresponding to the different locations within the content storage architecture;

receiving search input associated with one of the graphical control elements within the graphical user interface;

identifying the location that corresponds to the graphical control element;

automatically modifying the received search input based on the custom search parameters associated with the identified location upon determining that the received search input fails to satisfy the query limitation associated with the identified location; and

performing a customized search at the identified location based on the modified search input, wherein performing the customized search includes updating the graphical user interface.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the query limitation designates a requirement for the search input.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the query limitation is customizable in accordance with customization input specified by an owner of media content stored at the location or an operator of the search application.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein automatically modifying the received search input is further based on the query limitation, and wherein the modification to the query limitation is not visible to the user.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein automatically modifying the received search input includes generating one or more alphanumeric characters that modify one or more terms of the received search input.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the custom search parameters include a root level limitation that restricts access to a higher order file in the content storage architecture.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the graphical user interface includes a context indicator associated with one or more available search input selection, and further comprising customizing the context indicator based on the location.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the search input further includes receiving a selection of the location from the user device.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein performing the customized search includes comparing the modified search input to metadata of one or more media content in the content storage architecture.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the graphical user interface is updated to display a result of the customized search based on the comparison to the metadata.

11. A system for providing customized searches, the system comprising:

memory that stores information regarding different locations within a content storage architecture, wherein each location is associated with a query limitation and one or more custom search parameters;

a communication interface that communicates over a communication network, wherein the communication interface receives search input from a user device for a user accessing a search application over the communication network; and

a processor that executes instructions stored in memory, wherein the processor executes the instructions to:

generate a graphical user interface for display at the user device, wherein the graphical user interface includes one or more graphical control elements corresponding to the different locations within the content storage architecture, and wherein the received search input is associated with one of the graphical control elements within the graphical user interface;

identify the location that corresponds to the graphical control element;

automatically modify the received search input based on the custom search parameters associated with the identified location upon determining that the received search input fails to satisfy the query limitation associated with the identified location; and

perform a customized search at the identified location based on the modified search input, wherein performing the customized search includes updating the graphical user interface.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the query limitation designates a requirement for the search input.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the query limitation is customizable in accordance with customization input specified by an owner of media content stored at the location or an operator of the search application.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the processor automatically modifies the received search input further based on the query limitation, and wherein the modification to the query limitation is not visible to the user.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein the processor automatically modifies received search input by generating one or more alphanumeric characters that modify one or more terms of the received search input.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the custom search parameters include a root level limitation that restricts access to a higher order file in the content storage architecture.

17. The system of claim 11 , wherein the graphical user interface includes a context indicator associated with one or more available search input selection, and wherein the processor executes further instructions to customize the context indicator based on the location.

18. The system of claim 11 , wherein the processor performs the customized search by comparing the received search input to metadata of one or more media content in the content storage architecture.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the processor updates the graphic user interface to display a result of the customized search based on the comparison to the metadata.

20. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having embodied thereon a program executable by a processor to perform a method of providing customized searches, the method comprising:

storing information regarding different locations within a content storage architecture, wherein each location is associated with a query limitation and one or more custom search parameters;

generating a graphical user interface for display at a user device for a user accessing a search application over a communication network, wherein the graphical user interface includes one or more graphical control elements corresponding to the different locations within the content storage architecture;

receiving search input associated with one of the graphical control elements within the graphical user interface;

identifying the location that corresponds to the graphical control element;

automatically modifying the received search input based on the custom search parameters associated with the identified location upon determining that the received search input fails to satisfy the query limitation associated with the identified location; and

performing a customized search at the identified location based on the modified search input, wherein performing the customized search includes updating the graphical user interface.
