Case and mount system for handheld electronic device
A protective case for a handheld electronic device is provided. The protective case can include a removable mounting system comprised of an interlocking member and a plurality of mounting bases. The protective case may further include a non-slip member to prevent the device from slipping on a surface and a magnet for attaching the device to a magnetic surface.
1 . A mountable case for a handheld electronic device, comprising: a case configured to retain an electronic device within an interior space of the case, the case comprising a rear wall that is configured to be positioned along a rear surface of the electronic device, the rear wall having an interior surface configured to face towards the rear surface of the electronic device;
an interlock area configured to receive an interlocking member, wherein the interlock area has four access spaces configured to receive tabs of the interlocking member as the interlocking member is inserted into the interlock area, wherein the interlock area comprises four interlocking surfaces separating adjacent access spaces, the interlocking surfaces configured to secure the tabs of the interlocking member behind the interlocking surfaces to couple the interlocking member to the case; and
an exterior-facing member configured to be removably received in the rear wall of the case, the exterior-facing member having a magnet received therein, a first side of the magnet facing the interior space of the case in a same direction as the interior surface of the rear wall and a second side of the magnet facing the exterior-facing member, wherein the magnet defines a round outer surface that extends between the interior surface of the rear wall and a rear surface of the exterior-facing member, wherein the magnet is coplanar with or parallel to the interior surface of the rear wall.
2 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the interlock area has a wall portion separating the interlock area from the electronic device during use.
3 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the magnet is received within an indentation of the exterior-facing member.
4 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the exterior-facing member is a non-slip member.
5 . The case of claim 4 , wherein the non-slip member comprises a frictional gripping exterior surface that enhances frictional engagement of the case with a surface on which the case is placed.
6 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the magnet is removable from the exterior-facing member.
7 . The case of claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of openings to allow access to control buttons of the electronic device.
8 . The case of claim 1 , wherein a surface of the interlock area is in the same plane as an exterior facing surface of the rear wall.
9 . The case of claim 1 , wherein the access spaces are circumferentially spaced.
10 . A mountable case system comprising:

a mount comprising the interlocking member.
11 . The mountable case system of claim 10 , wherein when the interlocking member is inserted into the interlock area, rotation of the mount in a first direction secures the mount and the case together and rotation of the mount in a second direction releases the case from the mount.
12 . A mountable case system, comprising:
a mount comprising an interlocking member;
a case configured to retain an electronic device within an interior space of the case, the case comprising a rear wall that is configured to be positioned along a rear surface of the electronic device;
an interlock area configured to receive the interlocking member of the mount, wherein the interlock area has four access spaces configured to receive tabs of the interlocking member as the interlocking member is inserted into the interlock area, wherein the interlock area comprises four interlocking surfaces separating adjacent access spaces, the interlocking surfaces configured to secure the tabs of the interlocking member behind the interlocking surfaces to couple the interlocking member to the case; and
an exterior-facing member configured to be removably received in the rear wall of the case, the exterior-facing member having a magnet received therein, a first side of the magnet facing the interior space of the case and a second side of the magnet facing the exterior-facing member;
wherein the mount is a bike mount.
13 . The mountable case system of claim 12 , wherein the bike mount is configured to position the case above a steering stem of a bicycle.
14 . The mountable case system of claim 12 , wherein the mount comprises a mount portion configured to be attached to a bicycle and an arm, wherein the interlocking member is supported by the arm and the arm is adjustable relative to the mount portion.
15 . The mountable case system of claim 14 , wherein the arm is rotatable relative to the mount portion.
16 . A mountable case for a handheld electronic device, comprising:
a case configured to retain an electronic device within an interior space of the case, the case comprising a rear wall that is configured to be positioned along a rear surface of the electronic device;
an attachment region comprising an opening configured to receive a mounting portion of a mount, wherein the opening of the attachment region has four access spaces configured to receive mount tabs of the mounting portion as the mounting portion is inserted into the opening of the attachment region, wherein the attachment region comprises four tabs separating adjacent access spaces; and
an exterior-facing member configured to be removably received in the rear wall of the case, the exterior-facing member having a magnet received therein, a first side of the magnet facing the interior space of the case and a second side of the magnet facing the exterior-facing member;
wherein the magnet is configured to permit the case and the electronic device retained within the case to be removably attached to a magnetic surface.
17 . The case of claim 16 , wherein the attachment region has a wall portion separating the opening from the electronic device during use.
18 . The case of claim 16 , wherein the magnet is received within an indentation of the exterior-facing member.
19 . The case of claim 16 , wherein the magnet is removable from the exterior-facing member.
20 . The case of claim 16 , wherein a surface of the attachment region is in the same plane as an exterior facing surface of the rear wall.
21 . The case of claim 16 , wherein the access spaces are circumferentially spaced.
22 . A mountable case system comprising:
