Abstract
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising sorbitan esters of carboxylic acids that are useful for the delivery of anti-psychotic drugs.
Claims (16)
1 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
(a) compound A-7:
(b) about 0.1-2 weight percent sorbitan laurate;
(c) about 0.05-1 weight percent polysorbate 20; and
(d) an aqueous carrier,
wherein the composition forms an aqueous, flocculated, injectable suspension.
2 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , comprising about 15-35 weight percent compound A-7.
3 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , comprising about 20-30 weight percent compound A-7.
4 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the ratio of components (b) to (c) is 5:1 to 1:1, by weight.
5 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the ratio of components (b) to (c) is about 5:2, by weight.
6 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises about 20 to about 900 mg of aripiprazole base equivalents.
7 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises about 60 to about 800 mg of aripiprazole base equivalents.
8 . A method of treating schizophrenia in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of the pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 .
9 . A method of treating schizophrenia in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of the pharmaceutical composition of claim 5 .
10 . A method of treating schizophrenia in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of the pharmaceutical composition of claim 6 .
11 . A method of treating schizophrenia in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of the pharmaceutical composition of claim 7 .
