Abstract

A dispensing container and adapter system for use with a planetary mixer is disclosed. The dispensing container has a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis. The dispensing container may include a nozzle and a removable cap to cover the nozzle. The removable cap may have a first width dimension measured along the transverse axis. The dispensing container may include a body having a second width dimension measured along the transverse axis. An adapter may receive the dispensing container. The adapter may include a cavity to receive the removable cap. The cavity may have a cavity width that exceeds the first width dimension. The adapter may also include a recess for receiving a portion of the dispensing container. The recess may extend from the cavity. At least a portion of the recess may have a width dimension smaller than both the first width dimension and the second width dimension.

Claims (58)

1 - 22 . (canceled)

23 . A mixer apparatus for preparing a composition, comprising:

a jar having an inner wall;

a holder configured to receive the jar;

an adapter configured to secure a container within the jar such that:

at least a portion of the container is disposed outside the adapter,

relative movement between the jar and the container is restricted, and

the adapter is configured to maintain the container spaced from the inner wall of the jar,

the adapter including:

a circumferential outer wall at least a portion of which is configured to abut the inner wall of the jar;

a central opening configured to receive at least one portion of the container; and

a wall portion defining a recess configured to contain at least another portion of the container, the recess being connected to the central opening; and

a motor configured to subject the holder to superimposed movements.

24 . The mixer apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the inner wall of the jar is tapered.

25 . The mixer apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the adapter includes a plurality of apertures radially positioned about the central opening.

26 . The mixer apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the jar includes a lid.

27 . The mixer apparatus of claim 23 , wherein a height of the adapter is less than half a height of the jar.

28 . The mixer apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the adapter is configured to secure the container such that a central axis of the container aligns with a central axis of the jar.

29 . The mixer apparatus of claim 23 , further including the container.

30 . The mixer apparatus of claim 29 , wherein the container has a tubular body and a cap, and the adapter is configured to interface with the cap to secure the container during a mixing process.

31 . The mixer apparatus of claim 30 , wherein the composition includes an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and one or more additional ingredients, and the container is configured to meter doses of the composition.

32 . The mixer apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the mixer apparatus is configured to generate the superimposed movements along two degrees of freedom, wherein the superimposed movements include revolution and rotation movements, wherein the superimposed movements are configured to subject contents within the container to one of mixing, de-aerating, melting, or grinding.

33 . The mixer apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the mixer apparatus is configured to operate according to determined parameters include a revolution speed of the mixer apparatus and a mixing time, wherein the mixer apparatus is configured to perform superimposed revolution and rotation movements using the determined parameters to obtain a melt without addition of external heat.

34 . A mixer apparatus for preparing a composition, comprising:

a jar having an inner wall;

a holder configured to receive the jar;

a container including a dispensing aperture configured to dispense metered doses of the composition, wherein the composition includes an active ingredient and one or more additional ingredients;

an adapter including:

a circumferential outer wall at least a portion of which is configured to abut the inner wall of the jar, the adapter configured to support the container within the jar; and

a motor configured to subject the holder to superimposed movements including revolution and rotation movements, wherein the superimposed movements are configured to mix the active ingredient with the one or more additional ingredients to produce the composition.

35 . The mixer apparatus of claim 34 , wherein the active ingredient is an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).

36 . The mixer apparatus of claim 34 , wherein the adapter is configured to maintain the container spaced from the inner wall of the jar.

37 . The mixer apparatus of claim 34 , wherein the adapter includes a central opening configured to receive at least a portion of the container.

38 . The mixer apparatus of claim 37 , wherein the adapter includes a plurality of apertures radially positioned about the central opening in the adapter.

39 . The mixer apparatus of claim 34 , wherein the adapter is configured to secure the container such that a central axis of the container aligns with a central axis of the jar.

40 . The mixer apparatus of claim 34 , wherein the container includes a nozzle having the dispensing aperture.

41 . The mixer apparatus of claim 40 , wherein the container is tubular and has a cap, and the adapter is configured to interface with the cap to secure the container during a mixing process.

42 . The mixer apparatus of claim 34 , wherein the inner wall of the jar is tapered.

43 . The mixer apparatus of claim 34 , wherein the mixer apparatus is configured to operate according to determined parameters include a revolution speed of the mixer apparatus and a mixing time.

44 . The mixer apparatus of claim 43 , wherein the mixer apparatus is configured to perform superimposed revolution and rotation movements using the determined parameters to obtain a melt without addition of external heat.

45 . A mixer apparatus for preparing a composition, comprising:

a jar having an inner wall;

a holder configured to receive the jar;

a motor configured to subject the holder to superimposed movements including revolution and rotation movements; and

an adapter configured to hold a container such that:

at least a portion of the container is disposed outside the adapter, and

the adapter is configured to maintain the container spaced from the inner wall of the jar, the adapter including:

a circumferential outer wall at least a portion of which is configured to abut the inner wall of the jar;

a central opening configured to receive at least one portion of the container; and

a wall portion defining a recess configured to contain at least another portion of the container, the recess being connected to the central opening,

wherein the superimposed movements are configured to subject contents within the container to one of mixing, de-aerating, melting, or grinding.
