INTELLIGENT, MULTI-FUNCTION ROBOT
An intelligent, multi-function robot capable of autonomous movement includes multiple functional modules to perform functional features of the robot and a brain to activate the functional features. Each functional module is packaged in its own isolated container and each container is a virtual environment container within which the module operates. The functional features are low resource processing tasks useful for autonomous operation of the robot.
1 . An intelligent, multi-function robot capable of autonomous movement and comprising:
multiple functional modules to perform functional features of said robot, each functional module being packaged in its own isolated container and each container being a virtual environment container within which said module operates; and
a brain to activate said functional features,
wherein said functional features are low resource processing tasks useful for autonomous operation of said robot.
2 . The intelligent, multi-function robot according to claim 1 , wherein said functional features including navigation, image processing, audio processing or video processing.
3 . The intelligent, multi-function robot according to claim 1 and also comprising on board hardware processing power which consists only of that necessary to operate said low resource processing tasks.
4 . The intelligent, multi-function robot according to claim 1 and also comprising a scripter to download, according to a unique ID number of said robot, a script and said multiple virtual containers associated with said unique ID number from a server in communication with said robot;
a router to communicate with said server to download a subset of operational data to support said multiple virtual containers; and
a robot database to store said subset of operational data,
wherein said scripter operates when said robot is online with said server and said brain operates when said robot is offline from said server.
5 . The intelligent, multi-function robot according to claim 4 wherein said multiple features comprise at least one of: vision, mobility, speech and audio.
6 . The intelligent, multi-function robot according to claim 4 wherein one of said multiple virtual environment containers is an interface between said robot and a recipient of a service by said robot.
7 . The robot according to claim 4 and wherein said router regularly sends a ping signal to be received by said server to determine if said robot is online with said server.
8 . A robot for performing a predefined set of tasks, each task having multiple feature elements, said robot comprising:
a scripter to download, according to a unique ID number of said robot, a script and multiple virtual containers associated with said unique ID number from a server in communication with said robot, wherein one of said multiple virtual containers is a router to communicate with said server to download a subset of operational data to support said multiple virtual containers, a second one of said multiple virtual containers is a controller to control said robot according to said script, and each of the remaining virtual containers to perform one of said multiple feature elements; and
a robot database to store said subset of operational data,
wherein said scripter operates when said robot is online with said server and said controller operates when said robot is offline from said server.
9 . The robot according to claim 8 wherein said multiple features comprise at least one of: vision, mobility, speech and audio.
10 . The robot according to claim 8 wherein one of said multiple virtual containers is an interface between said robot and a recipient of a service by said robot.
11 . The robot according to claim 8 and wherein said router regularly sends a ping signal to be received by said server to determine if said robot is online with said server.
