Abstract

A system for data collection related to a fluid conveyance environment includes a data acquisition circuit comprising inputs and outputs; input sensors to provide sensor data values, coupled to a component in the fluid conveyance environment; and a processor comprising the data acquisition circuit. The processor is configured to determine a data storage profile; responsive to the data storage profile, configure the data acquisition circuit to selectively couple at least one of the inputs to at least one of the outputs; interpret the at least one of the sensor data values; store at least a portion of the at least one of the sensor data values in response to the data storage profile; analyze a set of the sensor data values and determine a data quality parameter; and adjust at least one of the data storage profile and a data collection routine in response to the data quality parameter.

Claims (76)

1 . A system for data collection related to a fluid conveyance environment, the system comprising:

a data acquisition circuit comprising a plurality of inputs and a plurality of outputs;

a plurality of input sensors to provide a plurality of sensor data values, operatively coupled to at least one of a plurality of components in the fluid conveyance environment and each communicatively coupled to at least one of the plurality of inputs of the data acquisition circuit; and

at least one processor, the at least one processor being configured to:

determine a data storage profile, the data storage profile comprising a data storage plan for at least a subset of the plurality of sensor data values from the plurality of input sensors,

wherein determining the data storage profile is based, at least in part, on a future use of at least one of the subset of the plurality of sensor data values, and

wherein the data storage profile includes a plan for transmission and storage of the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values according to a process stage and at least one of: an operating condition of the fluid conveyance environment, or a communication condition of a device of the fluid conveyance environment;

store the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values in response to the data storage profile;

analyze at least a portion of the at least of the subset of the plurality of sensor data values and determine a status parameter;

adjust the data storage profile in response to the determined status parameter; and

store the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values in response to the adjusted data storage profile and at least one of: a process stage of the fluid conveyance environment, an operational mode for the fluid conveyance environment, an offset process from the fluid conveyance environment, or an environmental condition associated with the fluid conveyance environment.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

store an expected value and at least one of: calibration data or maintenance history for at least one of the plurality of input sensors; and

perform at least one of:

calibrating the at least one of the plurality of input sensors;

updating the maintenance history of the at least one of the plurality of input sensors; or

providing a maintenance alert for the at least one of the plurality of input sensors.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:

the data storage profile further comprises a data communication path; and

the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values is communicated through a network infrastructure along the data communication path.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to selectively communicate and store the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values in a plurality of storage locations in response to the data storage profile.

5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the plurality of storage locations includes at least one of:

a storage location provided on a sensor;

a storage location provided on a local computing resource; or

a storage location provided on a cloud computing device external to the fluid conveyance environment.

6 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to selectively communicate and store the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values by at least one of:

sequentially moving the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values between storage locations;

storing the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values in selected storage locations for selected time periods;

providing a time data storage trajectory for the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values;

providing a time domain distribution over which the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values is to be stored; or

providing a location data storage trajectory over which the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values is to be stored.

7 . The system of claim 1 ,

wherein the processor is further configured to: analyze the plurality of sensor data values and determine a product quality parameter; and

provide a control instruction to a component of the fluid conveyance environment based on the product quality parameter.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the control instruction alters at least one of: a temperature, a volume, a propeller speed, a pressure, a rate of agitation, or a flow rate of the fluid conveyance environment.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of input sensors includes at least one of: a densitometer, a viscometer, a mass spectrometer, a spectrometer, a size exclusion chromatograph, an inline near IR analyzer, an electrochemical gas sensor, an octane analyzer, or a torque meter.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the future use of the at least one of the subset of the plurality of sensor data values includes two or more future sensor fusion operations and the data storage profile comprises two or more locations for the at least one of the subset of the plurality of sensor data values.

11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the determining the data storage profile is based at least in part on at least one of: device storage capacity, a network capacity, available processor cycles for data manipulation, or working memory to support transfer operations.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the adjusting the data storage profile is further in response to at least one of: a process stage of the fluid conveyance environment, an operational mode for the fluid conveyance environment, an offset process from the fluid conveyance environment, or an environmental condition associated with the fluid conveyance environment.

13 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the data storage profile includes:

initially storing the at least the subset of the sensor data values as at least one of: high resolution, high precision, or high sampling rate; and

reducing, upon notification of an occurrence of an event or a confirmation of a successful process, the stored subset of the sensor data values to at least one of a lower resolution, a lower precision, or a lower sampling rate.

14 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the status parameter includes at least one of: a process success value, a process failure value, a component service value, a component maintenance value, a network description value, or a process feedback value.

15 . A computer-implemented method for monitoring a fluid conveyance environment, the method comprising:

providing a plurality of input sensors, each of the plurality of input sensors being capable of providing a plurality of sensor data values, each of the plurality of input sensors being operatively coupled to at least one of a plurality of components of the fluid conveyance environment;

determining a data storage profile, the data storage profile comprising a data storage plan for at least a subset of the plurality of sensor data values;

wherein determining the data storage profile is based, at least in part, on a future use of at least one of the subset of the plurality of sensor data values, and

wherein the data storage profile includes a plan for transmission and storage of the at least the subset of the sensor data values according to a process stage and at least one of: an operating condition of the fluid conveyance environment, or a communication condition of a device of the fluid conveyance environment;

storing the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values in response to the data storage profile;

analyzing the stored at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values to determine a status parameter;

adjusting the data storage profile in response to the status parameter; and

store the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values in response to the adjusted data storage profile.

16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising selectively communicating and storing the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values in a plurality of storage locations in response to the data storage profile.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of storage locations includes at least one of:

a storage location provided on a sensor;

a storage location provided on a local computing resource; or

a storage location provided on a cloud computing device external to the fluid conveyance environment.

18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the selectively communicating and storing the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values comprises performing an operation including at least one of:

sequentially moving the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values between storage locations;

storing selected portions of the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values in selected storage locations for selected time periods;

providing a time data storage trajectory for the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values;

providing a time domain distribution over which the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values is to be stored; or

providing a location data storage trajectory over which the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values is to be stored.

19 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising adjusting the data storage profile in response to at least two of; a network resource value, a memory availability, or a compute availability.

20 . A system for data collection related to a fluid conveyance environment, the system comprising:

a data acquisition circuit operatively coupled to a plurality of input sensors and configured to receive a plurality of sensor data values from the plurality of input sensors, the plurality of input sensors operatively coupled to at least one of a plurality of components in the fluid conveyance environment;

a storage planning circuit configured to determine a data configuration plan;

a data storage profile circuit configured to prepare a data storage profile, the data storage profile comprising a data storage plan for at least a subset of the plurality of sensor data values,

wherein determining the data storage profile is based, at least in part, on a future use of at least one of the subset of the plurality of sensor data values, and

wherein the data storage profile includes a plan for transmission and storage of the at least the subset of the sensor data values according to a process stage and at least one of: an operating condition of the fluid conveyance environment, or a communication condition of a device of the fluid conveyance environment;

a sensor data storage implementation circuit configured to store the at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values based on the data storage profile and the data configuration plan; and

an analysis circuit configured to analyze the stored at least the subset of the plurality of sensor data values and determine a status parameter,

wherein the storage planning circuit includes updating the data storage profile based on the status parameter.

The system of claim 20 , wherein updating the data storage profile is further based on at least one of: a process stage of the fluid conveyance environment, an operational mode for the fluid conveyance environment, an offset process from the fluid conveyance environment, or an environmental condition associated with the fluid conveyance environment.

The system of claim 20 , wherein the data configuration plan includes at least one of: a data type, a number of bits per sensor data value, a data compression value for a subset of the plurality of sensor data values, a data compression model for a subset of the plurality of sensor data values, a data write strategy value, or a data hierarchy value for a subset of the plurality of sensor data values.

23 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the data write strategy value indicates at least one of storing sensor data values in a distributed manner or on a single device.
