Information Monitoring System and Method
A method, computer program product, and computing system for: identifying a piece of content within a communications network; defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network; and identifying a source of the piece of content based, at least in part, upon the propagation path.
1 . A computer-implemented method executed on a computing device comprising:
identifying a piece of content within a communications network;
defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network; and
identifying a source of the piece of content based, at least in part, upon the propagation path.
2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein the communications network includes one or more of:
one or more social media platforms;
one or more websites;
one or more video-sharing platforms;
one or more virtual reality platforms;
one or more gaming platforms;
one or more messaging platforms;
one or more financial platforms; and
one or more blog platforms.
3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein the piece of content includes one or more of:
neutral content;
negative content; and
positive content.
4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 3 wherein the negative content includes one or more of:
malinformation;
misinformation; and
disinformation.
5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 3 wherein the positive content includes one or more of:
one or more image-based content;
one or more audio-based content;
one or more video-based content;
one or more social media posts;
one or more advertisements;
one or more press releases; and
one or more stories.
6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network includes:
defining one or more intermediate locations between the current location of the piece of content and the source of the piece of content.
7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network includes:
back-tracing the flow of the piece of content through the communications network from the current location to the source.
8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 further comprising:
identifying an original poster of the piece of content.
9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 further comprising:
delegitimizing the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is negative content; and/or
deplatforming the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is negative content.
10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 further comprising:
thanking the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is positive content; and/or
rewarding the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is positive content.
11 . A computer program product residing on a computer readable medium having a plurality of instructions stored thereon which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
identifying a piece of content within a communications network;
defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network; and
identifying a source of the piece of content based, at least in part, upon the propagation path.
12 . The computer program product of claim 11 wherein the communications network includes one or more of:
one or more social media platforms;
one or more websites;
one or more video-sharing platforms;
one or more virtual reality platforms;
one or more gaming platforms;
one or more messaging platforms;
one or more financial platforms; and
one or more blog platforms.
13 . The computer program product of claim 11 wherein the piece of content includes one or more of:
neutral content;
negative content; and
positive content.
14 . The computer program product of claim 13 wherein the negative content includes one or more of:
malinformation;
misinformation; and
disinformation.
15 . The computer program product of claim 13 wherein the positive content includes one or more of:
one or more image-based content;
one or more audio-based content;
one or more video-based content;
one or more social media posts;
one or more advertisements;
one or more press releases; and
one or more stories.
16 . The computer program product of claim 11 wherein defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network includes:
defining one or more intermediate locations between the current location of the piece of content and the source of the piece of content.
17 . The computer program product of claim 11 wherein defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network includes:
back-tracing the flow of the piece of content through the communications network from the current location to the source.
18 . The computer program product of claim 11 further comprising:
identifying an original poster of the piece of content.
19 . The computer program product of claim 18 further comprising:
delegitimizing the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is negative content; and/or
deplatforming the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is negative content.
20 . The computer program product of claim 18 further comprising:
thanking the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is positive content; and/or
rewarding the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is positive content.
21 . A computing system including a processor and memory configured to perform operations comprising:
identifying a piece of content within a communications network;
defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network; and
identifying a source of the piece of content based, at least in part, upon the propagation path.
22 . The computing system of claim 21 wherein the communications network includes one or more of:
one or more social media platforms;
one or more websites;
one or more video-sharing platforms;
one or more virtual reality platforms;
one or more gaming platforms;
one or more messaging platforms;
one or more financial platforms; and
one or more blog platforms.
23 . The computing system of claim 21 wherein the piece of content includes one or more of:
neutral content;
negative content; and
positive content.
24 . The computing system of claim 23 wherein the negative content includes one or more of:
malinformation;
misinformation; and
disinformation.
25 . The computing system of claim 23 wherein the positive content includes one or more of:
one or more image-based content;
one or more audio-based content;
one or more video-based content;
one or more social media posts;
one or more advertisements;
one or more press releases; and
one or more stories.
26 . The computing system of claim 21 wherein defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network includes:
defining one or more intermediate locations between the current location of the piece of content and the source of the piece of content.
27 . The computing system of claim 21 wherein defining a propagation path along which the piece of content traveled through the communications network includes:

identifying an original poster of the piece of content.

delegitimizing the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is negative content; and/or

thanking the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is positive content; and/or
rewarding the original poster of the piece of content if the piece of content is positive content.
