Abstract

A video decoding method includes generating a prediction information merge list for a current block, selecting one of prediction information merge candidates included in the prediction information merge list on the basis of index information, and obtaining a prediction block for the current block on the basis of prediction information on the selected prediction information merge candidate.

Claims (32)

1 . A method of decoding a video, the method comprising:

generating a prediction information merge list for a current block;

selecting one of prediction information merge candidates included in the prediction information merge list based on index information; and

obtaining a prediction block for the current block based on prediction information on the selected prediction information merge candidate,

wherein:

the prediction information includes intra-prediction mode information,

an index assigned to each of the prediction information merge candidates in the prediction information merge list is determined based on a cost of each of the prediction information merge candidates, and

wherein the cost is calculated based on differences between reconstructed samples within a current template and prediction samples obtained for the current template.

2 . The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein the prediction information merge candidates are derived based neighboring blocks adjacent to the current block.

3 . The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein a flag indicating whether a prediction information merge mode is applied to the current block is explicitly signaled through a bitstream.

4 . The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein, in a case where the current block is partitioned into a plurality of partitions, the index information is signaled for each of the partitions.

5 . The video decoding method of claim 4 , wherein the current block is partitioned by two partitioning lines, and information for identifying a direction and a position of each of the two partitioning lines is explicitly signaled.

6 . The video decoding method of claim 4 , wherein neighboring partitions among the plurality of partitions have different pieces of prediction information.

7 . A video encoding method comprising:

generating a prediction information merge list for a current block;

selecting a prediction information merge candidate the same as prediction information on the current block among prediction information merge candidates included in the prediction information merge list; and

encoding index information indicating the selected prediction information merge candidate,

wherein:

the prediction information includes intra-prediction mode information,

an index assigned to each of the prediction information merge candidates in the prediction information merge list is determined based on a cost of each of the prediction information merge candidates, and

wherein the cost is calculated based on differences between reconstructed samples within a current template and prediction samples obtained for the current template.

8 . The video encoding method of claim 7 , wherein the prediction information merge candidates are derived based on neighboring blocks adjacent to the current block.

9 . The video encoding method of claim 7 , wherein, in a case where the current block is partitioned into a plurality of partitions, the index information is encoded for each of the partitions.

10 . The video encoding method of claim 9 , wherein neighboring partitions among the plurality of partitions have different pieces of prediction information.

11 . A computer-readable recording medium storing executable instructions for encoding bitstreams generated by a video encoding method comprising:

generating a prediction information merge list for a current block;

selecting a prediction information merge candidate the same as prediction information on the current block among prediction information merge candidates included in the prediction information merge list; and

encoding index information indicating the selected prediction information merge candidate,

wherein the prediction information includes coding mode information,

the prediction information includes intra-prediction mode information,

an index assigned to each of the prediction information merge candidates in the prediction information merge list is determined based on a cost of each of the prediction information merge candidates, and

wherein the cost is calculated based on differences between reconstructed samples within a current template and prediction samples obtained for the current template.
