Display apparatus and control method for same
A display apparatus comprising: a first power supply unit; a second power supply unit; a first switching unit; a second switching unit; a display panel; a backlight unit for providing light to the display panel by means of the first light emitting elements and second light emitting elements; a first driver for driving the first light emitting elements using the supplied power; a second driver for driving the second light emitting elements using supplied power; and at least one processor, individually and/or collectively, configured to provide power supplied from the first power supply unit and the second power supply unit to the first driver and the second driver, or provide power supplied from only the first power supply to the first driver and the second driver, by controlling the first switching unit and the second switching unit based on user input for adjusting luminance of the display panel.
1 . A display apparatus comprising:
a first power supply unit comprising a power supply;
a second power supply unit comprising a power supply;
a display panel;
a backlight unit including a backlight configured to provide light to the display panel using first light emitting elements and second light emitting elements;
a first driver comprising a plurality of output terminals and configured to drive the first light emitting elements;
a second driver comprising a plurality of output terminals and configured to drive the second light emitting elements;
a first switch circuit configured to selectively connect at least a first output terminal of the plurality of output terminals of the first driver to either the first power supply unit or the second power supply unit;
a second switch circuit configured to selectively connect at least a first output terminal of the plurality of output terminals of the second driver to either the first power supply unit or the second power supply unit; and
at least one processor, comprising processing circuitry, configured, individually and/or collectively, to control the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit in a first driving mode so that the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver are simultaneously connected to different ones of the first power supply unit and the second power supply unit and to control the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit in a second driving mode so that the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver are simultaneously connected to only the first power supply unit,
wherein the first or second driving mode is set based on an input for adjusting brightness of the display panel.
2 . The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein at least one processor comprising processing circuitry is configured, individually and/or collectively, to:
based on receiving an input for lowering the brightness of the display panel to a specified brightness while the first driving mode is set, control the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit to set the second driving mode.
3 . The display apparatus of claim 2 , wherein at least one processor comprising processing circuitry, individually and/or collectively, is configured to:
turn off the second power supply unit when the second driving mode is set.

The display apparatus of claim 3 , wherein at least one processor comprising processing circuitry is configured, individually and/or collectively, based on receiving an input to increase brightness of the display panel to a specified brightness while the second driving mode is set, turn on the second power supply unit.

The display apparatus of claim 4 , wherein at least one processor comprising processing circuitry is configured, individually and/or collectively, to control the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit so that the first driving mode is set based on turning on the second power supply unit.
6 . The display apparatus of claim 5 , wherein:
the first driver comprises a second output terminal corresponding to a first type light emitting element and configured to receive power from only the first power supply unit, wherein the first output terminal of the first driver corresponds to a second type light emitting element,
the second driver comprises a second output terminal corresponding to the first type light emitting element and configured to receive power from only the first power supply unit, wherein the first output terminal of the second driver corresponds to the second type light emitting element, and
at least one processor comprising processing circuitry is configured, individually and/or collectively, based on receiving an input for lowering the brightness of the display panel to a specified brightness based on power supplied from first power supply unit being provided to the first type light emitting element through second output terminal of the first driver and the second output terminal of the second driver and power supplied from the second power supply unit being provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver, control the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit such that power supplied from the first power supply unit is provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver and turn off the second power supply unit.
7 . The display apparatus of claim 6 , wherein at least one processor comprising processing circuitry is configured, individually and/or collectively, to:
based on receiving an input for increasing the brightness of the display panel to a specified brightness based on power supplied from the first power supply unit being provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver, and the power provided from the first power supply unit being provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver, turn on the second power supply unit, and control the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit such that power provided from the second power supply unit is provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver.

A method of controlling a display apparatus comprising a first power supply unit comprising a power supply, a second power supply unit comprising a power supply, a display panel, a backlight unit configured to provide light to the display panel using first light emitting elements and second light emitting elements, a first driver comprising a plurality of output terminals and configured to drive the first light emitting elements, a second driver comprising a plurality of output terminals and configured to drive the second light emitting elements, a first switch circuit configured to selectively connect at least a first output terminal of the plurality of output terminals of the first driver to either the first power supply unit or the second power supply unit; and a second switch circuit configured to selectively connect at least a first output terminal of the plurality of output terminals of the second driver to either the first power supply unit or the second power supply unit, the method comprising:
receiving an input for adjusting brightness of the display panel; and
controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit in a first driving mode so that the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver are simultaneously connected to different ones of the first power supply unit and the second power supply unit and controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit in a second driving mode so that the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver are simultaneously connected to only the first power supply unit,
wherein the first or second driving mode is set based on the input.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
based on receiving an input for lowering the brightness of the display panel to a specified brightness while the first driving mode is set, controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit to set the second driving mode.
10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
turning off the second power supply unit when the second driving mode is set.
11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
based on receiving an input to increase brightness of the display panel to specified brightness while the second driving mode is set, turning on the second power supply unit.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:
based on turning on the second power supply unit, controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit so that the first driving mode is set.
13 . The method of claim 12 ,
wherein the first driver comprises a second output terminal corresponding to a first type light emitting element and configured to receive power from only the first power supply unit, wherein the first output terminal of the first driver corresponds to a second type light emitting element, and
wherein the second driver comprises a second output terminal corresponding to the first type light emitting element and configured to receive power from only the first power supply unit, wherein the first output terminal of the second driver corresponds to the second type light emitting element, and
wherein the method further comprises:
based on receiving an input for lowering the brightness of the display panel to a specified brightness based on power supplied from first power supply unit being provided to the first type light emitting element through second output terminal of the first driver and the second output terminal of the second driver and power supplied from the second power supply unit being provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver, controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit such that power supplied from the first power supply unit is provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver and turning off the second power supply unit.
14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising:
based on receiving an input for increasing the brightness of the display panel to a specified brightness based on power supplied from the first power supply unit being provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver, and the power provided from the first power supply unit being provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver, turning on the second power supply unit, and controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit such that power provided from the second power supply unit is provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium configured to store computer instructions that, when executed by at least one processor of a display apparatus comprising a first power supply unit comprising a power supply, a second power supply unit comprising a power supply, a display panel, a backlight unit configured to provide light to the display panel using first light emitting elements and second light emitting elements, a first driver comprising a plurality of output terminals and configured to drive the first light emitting elements, a second driver comprising a plurality of output terminals and configured to drive the second light emitting elements, a first switch circuit configured to selectively connect at least a first output terminal of the plurality of output terminals of the first driver to either the first power supply unit or the second power supply unit; and a second switch circuit configured to selectively connect at least a first output terminal of the plurality of output terminals of the second driver to either the first power supply unit or the second power supply unit, cause the display apparatus to perform operations comprising:
receiving an input for adjusting brightness of the display panel; and
controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit in a first driving mode so that the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver are simultaneously connected to different ones of the first power supply unit and the second power supply unit and controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit in a second driving mode so that the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver are simultaneously connected to only the first power supply unit,
wherein the first or second driving mode is set based on the input.
16 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:
based on receiving an input for lowering the brightness of the display panel to a specified brightness while the first driving mode is set, controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit to set the second driving mode.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise:
turning off the second power supply unit when the second driving mode is set.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise:
based on receiving an input to increase brightness of the display panel to specified brightness while the second driving mode is set, turning on the second power supply unit.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the operations further comprise:
based on turning on the second power supply unit, controlling the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit so that the first driving mode is set.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the operations further comprise:
based on receiving an input for lowering the brightness of the display panel to a specified brightness based on power supplied from first power supply unit being provided to a first type light emitting element through a second output terminal of the first driver and a second output terminal of the second driver and power supplied from the second power supply unit being provided to a second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver, control the first switch circuit and the second switch circuit such that power supplied from the first power supply unit is provided to the second type light emitting element through the first output terminal of the first driver and the first output terminal of the second driver and turning off the second power supply unit.
