Abstract

An access manager determines whether access will be granted to a guarded species or space utilizing a controller including a digital processor with a memory for storing an ID library and a transducer block coupled with the processor for accessing a plurality of different ID types and an access control block coupled with the processor for granting or denying access.

Claims (17)

1. An autonomous access manager for controlling access by person(s) to a guarded zone, the access manager comprising:

a controller that utilizes a processor for processing digital information;

a memory coupled with the processor, the memory for storing an ID library;

a transducer block coupled with the processor, the transducer block including transducers for accessing a plurality of different ID types;

an access control block coupled with the processor, the access control block for denying or permitting access to the guarded zone; and,

the access manager arbitrates a first person's access to the guarded zone based on 1) a biometric ID and 2) one of a first set of two or more available ID's selected from scannable, biometric and cooperative ID's;

wherein the biometric ID is used to identify the first person and a randomly selected one of the available ID's is used in controlling the first person's access to the guarded zone.

2. The access manager of claim 1 wherein if the biometric ID of the first person fails to identify the person or identifies a prohibited person then access to the guarded zone is denied.

3. The access manager of claim 1 wherein the access manager arbitrates a second person's access to the guarded zone based on a biometric ID and one of a second set of two or more available ID's selected from scannable, biometric and cooperative ID's, the biometric ID used to identify the second person and available ID's such that a randomly selected one of the available ID's is used to control access to the guarded zone.

4. The access manager of claim 1 wherein the biometric ID is via facial recognition.

5. The access manager of claim 1 wherein the first set of available ID's includes at least three ID's.

6. The access manager of claim 1 wherein the first set of available ID's includes a card, keypad entry, passport, voice, or fingerprint.

7. The access manager of claim 1 wherein the first set of available ID's includes an optical or radio frequency device.

8. The access manager of claim 1 wherein one or more cameras are used in identifying the first person and in performing the query.

9. The access manager of claim 1 wherein a camera is used in identifying the first person and a fingerprint is used in performing the query.

10. The access manager of claim 1 wherein the biometric ID and the randomly selected one of the available ID's is used in controlling the first person's access to the guarded zone.

11. The access manager of claim 3 wherein the first set of available ID's differs from the second set of ID's.
