Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices related to signal development caching in a memory device are described. In one example, a memory device in accordance with the described techniques may include a memory array, a sense amplifier array, and a signal development cache configured to store signals (e.g., cache signals, signal states) associated with logic states (e.g., memory states) that may be stored at the memory array (e.g., according to various read or write operations). The memory device may also include a controller configured to determine whether data associated with an address of the memory array is stored in one or more cache blocks of the signal development cache. As an example, the memory device may determine whether the data is stored in one or more cache blocks of the signal development cache based on mapping information associated with the address of the memory array.

Claims (68)

a memory array;

a cache; and

one or more controllers coupled with the memory array and the cache and configured to cause the memory device to:

identify a set of blocks of the cache, the set of blocks associated with an address of the memory device;

determine that data transferred to the cache is stored in a block of the set of blocks based at least in part on identifying the set of blocks; and

transfer the data from the block to a sense amplifier based at least in part on determining that the data is stored in the block.

2 . The memory device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to cause the memory device to:

receive a command associated with accessing the data, the command indicating a second address of the memory device,

wherein identifying the set of blocks is based at least in part on the address being mapped to the second address.

3 . The memory device of claim 2 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to cause the memory device to:

identify a mapping between the address and the second address based at least in part on accessing mapping information associated with the cache,

wherein identifying the set of blocks is based at least in part on the mapping information.

4 . The memory device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to cause the memory device to:

transfer the data from the memory array of the memory device to the set of blocks,

wherein identifying the set of blocks is based at least in part on transferring the data from the memory array to the set of blocks.

5 . The memory device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to cause the memory device to:

identify a set index, a block offset index, or a tag index associated with the block,

wherein determining that the data is stored in the block is based at least in part on identifying the set index, the block offset index, or the tag index.

6 . The memory device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to cause the memory device to:

search the set of blocks for an indication that the data is stored in the block,

wherein determining that the data is stored in the block is based at least in part on searching the set of blocks.

7 . The memory device of claim 1 , wherein, to transfer the data from the block to the sense amplifier, the one or more controllers are further configured to cause the memory device to:

couple the block with the sense amplifier; and

latch, at the sense amplifier, the data based at least in part on coupling the block with the sense amplifier.

8 . The memory device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to cause the memory device to:

receive a command associated with accessing second data, the command indicating a third address of the memory device;

determine that the second data is stored in the memory array of the memory device based at least in part on receiving the command; and

transfer the second data from the memory array to a second block of the set of blocks based at least in part on determining that the second data is stored in the memory array.

9 . The memory device of claim 8 , wherein the one or more controllers are further configured to cause the memory device to:

identify, based at least in part on receiving the command, a mapping between the third address and a fourth address associated with the second block; and

determine that the second data is not stored in the second block based at least in part on the mapping,

wherein determining that the second data is stored in the memory array is based at least in part on determining that the second data is not stored in the second block.

10 . A method of operating a memory device, comprising:

identifying a set of blocks of a cache of the memory device, the set of blocks associated with an address of the memory device;

determining that data transferred to the cache is stored in a block of the set of blocks based at least in part on identifying the set of blocks; and

transferring the data from the block to a sense amplifier based at least in part on determining that the data is stored in the block.

11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

receiving a command associated with accessing the data, the command indicating a second address of the memory device,

wherein identifying the set of blocks is based at least in part on the address being mapped to the second address.

12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

identifying a mapping between the address and the second address based at least in part on accessing mapping information associated with the cache,

wherein identifying the set of blocks is based at least in part on the mapping information.

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein transferring the data from the block to the sense amplifier is based at least in part on the command comprising a read command indicating to read the data.

14 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

transferring the data from a memory array of the memory device to the set of blocks,

wherein identifying the set of blocks is based at least in part on transferring the data from the memory array to the set of blocks.

15 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

identifying a set index, a block offset index, or a tag index associated with the block,

wherein determining that the data is stored in the block is based at least in part on identifying the set index, the block offset index, or the tag index.

16 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

searching the set of blocks for an indication that the data is stored in the block,

wherein determining that the data is stored in the block is based at least in part on searching the set of blocks.

latching, at the sense amplifier, the data based at least in part on coupling the block with the sense amplifier.

18 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

receiving a command associated with accessing second data, the command indicating a third address of the memory device;

determining that the second data is stored in a memory array of the memory device based at least in part on receiving the command; and

transferring the second data from the memory array to a second block of the set of blocks based at least in part on determining that the second data is stored in the memory array.
