Abstract

In one embodiment, a display device includes a display area, a peripheral area, scanning lines, signal lines, a first driver in the peripheral area, and a second driver in the peripheral area. The display area has an arc-shaped corner. The first driver includes first and second buffers configured to apply voltage to the scanning lines, a first shift register unit configured to control the first buffer unit, and a second shift register unit configured to control the second buffer unit. At the corner, extension directions of the first buffer unit and the first shift register unit are equal to each other. Extension directions of the second buffer unit and the second shift register unit are different from each other.

Claims (56)

1. A display device comprising:

a plurality of pixels in a display area;

a plurality of signal lines arrayed in a first direction in the display area;

a plurality of scanning lines arrayed in a second direction crossing the first direction in the display area; and

a scanning line driver in a peripheral area outside of the display area,

wherein

the display area includes a corner portion,

pixels in the corner portion are arranged in a stepped pattern,

the scanning line driver includes a plurality of shift register units and a plurality of switch groups,

each of the plurality of switch groups includes plural switches,

each of the plural switches is connected to a respective one of the plurality of shift register units,

each of the plural switches is connected to a respective one of the scanning lines,

the plurality of shift register units are arranged along the stepped pattern of the pixels,

the plurality of switch groups are arranged along the stepped pattern of the pixels,

an A number of the plural switches of one of the switch groups are arrayed along the first direction,

a B number of the plural switches of other one of the switch groups are arrayed along the second direction,

the other one of the switch groups is a next switch group of the one of the switch groups, and

the A number and the B number are integers greater than 2.

2. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the plural switches include a gate pulse supply switch.

3. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the plural switches include a gate low voltage supply switch.

4. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the plural switches include a gate pulse supply switch and a gate low voltage supply switch.

5. The display device of claim 2 , wherein the gate pulse supply switch includes a n-type transistor and a p-type transistor.

6. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the A number is a same number as the B number.

7. The display device of claim 1 , wherein

the plurality of switch groups include a first switch group and a second switch group,

the first switch group is the A number of the plural switches arrayed along the first direction,

the second switch group is the B number of the plural switches arrayed along the second direction,

the first switch group has a first extension direction parallel to the first direction and a second extension direction parallel to the second direction,

the second switch group has a first extension direction parallel to the first direction and a second extension direction parallel to the second direction,

the first extension direction of the first switch group is longer than the first extension direction of the second switch group, and

the second extension direction of the first switch group is shorter than the second extension direction of the second switch group.

8. The display device of claim 7 , wherein

the plurality of shift register units include a first shift register unit and a second shift register unit,

the first shift register unit is connected to the first switch group,

the second shift register unit is connected to the second switch group,

the first shift register unit has a first extension direction parallel to the first direction and a second extension direction parallel to the second direction,

the second shift register unit has a first extension direction parallel to the first direction and a second extension direction parallel to the second direction,

the first extension direction of the first shift register unit is shorter than the first extension direction of the second shift register unit, and

the second extension direction of the first shift register unit is longer than the second extension direction of the second shift register unit.

9. The display device of claim 8 , wherein

a distance between the first switch group and the first shift register unit in the first direction is shorter than a distance between the second switch group and the second shift register unit in the first direction.

10. The display device of claim 7 , further comprising:

a signal line driver in the peripheral area and a video line group in the peripheral area, wherein

the video line group is connected to the signal line driver,

the plurality of signal lines are connected to the signal line driver,

the signal line driver is between the video line group and the plurality of signal lines, and

a part of the video line group is formed along the stepped pattern of the pixels.

11. The display device of claim 10 , wherein

the first switch group is located between the plurality of shift register units and the video line group, and

the second switch group is located between the video line group and the display area.

12. The display device of claim 11 , wherein

the second switch group is connected to one of the shift register units by a first connection line, and

the first connection line crosses the video line group.

13. The display device of claim 12 , wherein

the first switch group is connected to another one of the shift register units by a second connection line, and

the second connection line does not overlap the video line group.
