Abstract

A liquid fertilizer additive solution composition and methods of making thereof.

Claims (26)

1 . A liquid fertilizer additive solution comprising:

a) a urease inhibitor,

b) a first solvent,

c) a second solvent, and

d) a surfactant,

wherein said first solvent is dimethyl sulfoxide,

wherein said second solvent is an alkanolamine,

wherein said urease inhibitor is initially dissolved in said first solvent and said second solvent, and optionally

e) dyes and colorants, wherein the dyes and colorants provide a visual confirmation that the liquid fertilizer additive solution has been delivered as an even coating to urea,

wherein said urease inhibitor is N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT), and

wherein said NBPT is present in the liquid fertilizer additive solution from 30 weight percent to 75 weight percent.

2 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein said surfactant consists of one or more nonionic surfactants.

3 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 2 , wherein said one or more nonionic surfactants consists of an HLB range of 6 to 18.

4 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein said alkanolamines comprise one or more members selected from the group consisting of a) ethanolamine, b) diethanolamine, c) dipropanolamine, d) methyl diethanolamine, e) monoisopropanolamine, and f) triethanolamine.

5 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 40 weight percent to 75 weight percent of said NBPT.

6 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 40 weight percent to 60 weight percent of said NBPT.

7 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 40 weight percent to 55 weight percent of said NBPT.

8 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 40 weight percent to 50 weight percent of said NBPT.

9 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 35 weight percent to 75 weight percent of said NBPT.

10 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 35 weight percent to 60 weight percent of said NBPT.

11 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 35 weight percent to 50 weight percent of said NBPT.

12 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 30 weight percent to 60 weight percent of said NBPT.

13 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 30 weight percent to 55 weight percent of said NBPT.

14 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 30 weight percent to 50 weight percent of said NBPT.

15 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 30 weight percent to 40 weight percent of said NBPT.

16 . The liquid fertilizer additive solution of claim 1 , wherein the liquid fertilizer additive solution comprises 30 weight percent to 35 weight percent of said NBPT.
