Abstract

A system includes a smart table comprising a display screen, a network interface, and a processing circuit, where the network interface is configured to facilitate data communication with a tactile input device, the processing circuit includes a processor and a memory and the processing circuit is configured to determine a location of the tactile input device on the smart table, and generate a user interface on the smart table based on the location of the tactile input device on the smart table such that the user interface of the smart table is aligned with and visible through a transparent screen of the tactile input device.

Claims (48)

1 . A system comprising:

a smart table comprising a first touchscreen, a network interface, and a processing circuit, the network interface configured to facilitate data communication with a tactile input device comprising a second touchscreen, wherein the tactile input device is a separate device from the smart table, the processing circuit comprising a processor and a memory, the processing circuit configured to:

determine a location of the tactile input device on the smart table; and

generate a user interface on the smart table based on the location of the tactile input device on the smart table such that the user interface of the smart table is aligned with and visible through a transparent screen of the tactile input device.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the tactile input device comprises:

the second touchscreen;

a tactile overlay configured to selectively generate a plurality of tactile user interfaces, the tactile overlay comprising at least one layer; and

a device configured to manipulate the at least one layer.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the tactile input device comprises:

the second touchscreen;

a tactile overlay configured to selectively generate a plurality of tactile user interfaces, the tactile overlay comprising at least one input area; and

a device configured to manipulate the at least one input area.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the tactile input device comprises a weight sensor configured to measure a weight of an item placed on a surface of the tactile input device.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to receive an authorization for a transaction to be made using the smart table from the tactile input device.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the smart table comprises a screen display that encompasses a top surface of the smart table.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to communicate with the tactile input device to cause the tactile input device to generate a layout based on the user interface of the smart table.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the layout comprises at least one of:

an alphanumeric keyboard layout configured to receive an alphanumeric input;

a numeric keyboard layout configured to receive a numeric input;

an authentication layout configured to receive a biometric sample;

a signature layout configured to receive a signature; or

a scale layout configured to weigh an object.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing circuit is configured to determine the location of the tactile input device based on the first touchscreen of the smart table detecting a component of the tactile input device.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the tactile input device is configured to receive a user input, wherein the user input comprises at least one of an alphanumeric input, a numeric input, a signature input, a biometric input, or a weight input.

11 . A method comprising:

determining, by a processing circuit of a smart table comprising a first touchscreen, a location of a tactile input device on the smart table, wherein the tactile input device is a separate device from the smart table and comprises a second touchscreen; and

generating, by the processing circuit, a user interface on the smart table based on the location of the tactile input device on the smart table such that the user interface of the smart table is aligned with and visible through a transparent screen of the tactile input device.

12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising receiving, by the processing circuit, an authorization for a transaction to be made using the smart table from the tactile input device.

13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising communicating, by the processing circuit, with the tactile input device to cause the tactile input device to generate a layout based on the user interface of the smart table.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the layout comprises at least one of:

an alphanumeric keyboard layout for receiving an alphanumeric input;

a numeric keyboard layout for receiving a numeric input;

an authentication layout for receiving a biometric sample;

a signature layout for receiving a signature; or

a scale layout for weighing an object.

15 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising determining, by the processing circuit, the location of the tactile input device based on the first touchscreen of the smart table detecting a component of the tactile input device.

16 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage media comprising instructions that, when executed by a processing circuit comprising one or more processors, cause the processing circuit to perform operations, the operations comprising:

determining a location of a tactile input device on a smart table comprising a first touchscreen, wherein the tactile input device is a separate device from the smart table and comprises a second touchscreen; and

generating a user interface on the smart table based on the location of the tactile input device on the smart table such that the user interface of the smart table is aligned with and visible through a transparent screen of the tactile input device.

17 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 16 , the operations further comprising receiving an authorization for a transaction to be made using the smart table from the tactile input device.

18 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 16 , the operations further comprising communicating with the tactile input device to cause the tactile input device to generate a layout based on the user interface of the smart table.

19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 18 , wherein the layout comprises at least one of:

an alphanumeric keyboard layout for receiving an alphanumeric input;

a numeric keyboard layout for receiving a numeric input;

an authentication layout for receiving a biometric sample;

a signature layout for receiving a signature; or

a scale layout for weighing an object.

20 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage media of claim 16 , the operations further comprising determining the location of the tactile input device based on the first touchscreen of the smart table detecting a component of the tactile input device.
