Abstract

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first transparent substrate including a first main surface, a second transparent substrate including a first end portion, a liquid crystal layer containing strip-shaped polymers and liquid crystal molecules, a third transparent substrate including a second end portion and a second main surface, a first light-emitting element and a first light guide. The first light guide includes a first surface and a second surface. A height from the first main surface to the second surface is less than a height from the first main surface to the second main surface.

Claims (30)

1. A light source unit, comprising:

a substrate;

a light-emitting element;

a light guide; and

a first adhesive layer;

wherein

the light guide includes a lower surface, an upper surface on an opposite side to the lower surface, a first side surface, and a second side surface on an opposite side to the first side surface,

the light-emitting element is opposed to the first side surface of the light guide,

the first adhesive layer adheres the substrate and the upper surface of the light guide together,

the first adhesive layer includes a first reflective member,

the first reflective member is located between the substrate and the upper surface of the light guide, and

the first adhesive layer is a stacked layer body in which an adhesive material, the first reflective member, and an adhesive material are stacked in this order.

2. The light source unit of claim 1 , further comprising:

a second adhesive layer,

wherein

the second adhesive layer is adhered to the lower surface of the light guide,

the second adhesive layer includes a second reflective member, and

the second adhesive layer is a stacked layer body in which an adhesive material, the second reflective member, and an adhesive material are stacked in this order.

3. The light source unit of claim 2 , wherein

the light-emitting element is mounted on the substrate.

4. The light source unit of claim 2 , further comprising:

a glass substrate,

wherein

the glass substrate includes a first end portion, and

the first end portion of the glass substrate is opposed to the second side surface of the light guide with an air gap.

5. The light source unit of claim 2 , further comprising:

a glass substrate,

wherein

the second adhesive layer adheres the glass substrate and the lower surface of the light guide together, and

the second reflective member is located between the glass substrate and the lower surface of the light guide.
