Abstract

A wear-resistant hydraulic fracturing pump valve seat including a body of the valve seat extending radially away from a central axis. The valve seat includes a first top surface configured to form a metal seal with a first bottom surface of a valve head, the first bottom surface positioned closest to a base of the valve head. The valve seat further includes a valve seat step positioned directly adjacent and above the first top surface and a second top surface disposed directly adjacent to and above the valve seat step. The second top surface is configured to form a second metal seal with a second bottom surface of the valve head. The valve seat step is configured to place the first top surface and the second top surface in different parallel planes from each other.

Claims (12)

1. A wear-resistant hydraulic fracturing pump valve assembly comprising:

a valve head, the valve head movable between an open position, to allow fluid flow through the valve assembly, and a closed position, to restrict fluid flow through the valve assembly;

a valve seat, the valve seat extending radially away from a central axis and further includes:

a first top surface, the first top surface configured to form a metal seal with a first bottom surface of the valve head, the first bottom surface positioned closest to a base of the valve head;

a valve seat step positioned directly adjacent and above the first top surface; and

a second top surface disposed directly adjacent to and above the valve seat step, the second top surface configured to form a second metal seal with a second bottom surface of the valve head; and

wherein the valve seat step is configured to place the first top surface and the second top surface in different parallel planes from each other.

2. The pump valve assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a valve head step disposed on the valve head configured to place the first bottom surface and the second bottom surface in different parallel planes from each other.

3. The pump valve assembly of claim 2 , wherein the valve head step includes a first annular groove.

4. The pump valve assembly of claim 3 , further comprising a first wear-resistant pump valve gasket configured to mount inside the first annular groove and to form a valve gasket seal with the valve seat.

5. The pump valve assembly claim 1 , further comprising a first wear-resistant pump valve gasket configured to mount inside a first annular groove and to form a valve gasket seal with the valve seat and wherein the first wear-resistant pump valve gasket has a pressure rating of at least 15,000 pounds per square inch.

6. The pump valve assembly of claim 5 , wherein the first wear-resistant pump valve gasket has a temperature rating of at least 300° F.
