Abstract

A method for identifying and navigating to an access point includes receiving a map query; identifying a point of interest that satisfies the map query; identifying multiple access points that have previously been associated with the point of interest; ranking the multiple access points based on user data indicative of a user-specific utility associated with the multiple access points; in response to receiving the map query, providing, for output, a map including: a selectable first icon for the point of interest that satisfies the map query, and a selectable second icon for a first access point among the ranked multiple access points, the selectable second icon being configured to, when selected, invoke a process for returning navigation directions to the first access point; receiving data indicating that the selectable second icon has been selected; and providing, for output, directions based on the selectable second icon that has been selected.

Claims (49)

1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving a map query;

identifying a point of interest that is associated with a physical entity that satisfies the map query;

identifying multiple access points that have previously been associated with the point of interest;

ranking the multiple access points based on frequencies of selections of access location query suggestions for the multiple access points and user data indicative of a user-specific utility associated with the multiple access points, wherein the user-specific utility is indicated by user data comprising travel reservation information of a user;

in response to receiving the map query, providing, for output, a map including:

a selectable first icon for the point of interest that satisfies the map query, and

a plurality of icons associated with the ranked multiple access points and comprising a selectable second icon for a first access point among the ranked multiple access points, the selectable second icon being configured to, when selected, invoke a process for returning directions to the first access point, wherein the plurality of icons are provided for output in an order based on the ranking of the multiple access points;

receiving data indicating that the selectable second icon has been selected; and

providing, for output, the directions to the first access point, based on the selectable second icon that has been selected.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the travel reservation information of the user comprises a transportation reservation or a parking reservation, and wherein the transportation reservation comprises an airline reservation or a rental car reservation.

The method of claim 1 , wherein ranking the multiple access points comprises providing a higher rank to a first access point among the multiple access points than a second access point among the multiple access points, when the travel reservation information indicates the first access point is conducive to travel plans of the user.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying multiple access points that have previously been associated with the point of interest comprises identifying parking lots that have previously been associated with the point of interest.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying multiple access points that have previously been associated with the point of interest comprises identifying different terminals that have previously been associated with the point of interest.

6 . The method of claim 1 , comprising providing, for output, information explaining a reason for ranking at least one of the multiple access points.

7 . The method of claim 1 , comprising providing, for output, a pop-up window that displays metadata associated with the selectable second icon that has been selected.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the multiple access points comprise access locations for ingress or egress of the user to the physical entity.

9 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage device storing instructions executable by one or more processors which, upon such execution, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving a map query;

identifying a point of interest that is associated with a physical entity that satisfies the map query;

identifying multiple access points that have previously been associated with the point of interest;

ranking the multiple access points based on frequencies of selections of access location query suggestions for the multiple access points and user data indicative of a user-specific utility associated with the multiple access points, wherein the user-specific utility is indicated by user data comprising travel reservation information of a user;

in response to receiving the map query, providing, for output, a map including:

a selectable first icon for the point of interest that satisfies the map query, and

a plurality of icons associated with the ranked multiple access points and comprising a selectable second icon for a first access point among the ranked multiple access points, the selectable second icon being configured to, when selected, invoke a process for returning directions to the first access point, wherein the plurality of icons are provided for output in an order based on the ranking of the multiple access points;

receiving data indicating that the selectable second icon has been selected; and

providing, for output, the directions to the first access point, based on the selectable second icon that has been selected.

The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 9 , wherein the user-specific utility is indicated by the user data for the user indicating travel reservation information of the user comprises a transportation reservation or a parking reservation, wherein the transportation reservation comprises an airline reservation or a rental car reservation, and wherein ranking the multiple access points comprises providing a higher rank to a first access point among the multiple access points than a second access point among the multiple access points, when the travel information indicates the first access point is conducive to travel plans of the user.

11 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 9 , wherein identifying multiple access points that have previously been associated with the point of interest comprises identifying parking lots that have previously been associated with the point of interest.

12 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 9 , wherein, before receiving the map query, receiving data associated with the multiple access points.

13 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 9 , wherein identifying multiple access points that have previously been associated with the point of interest comprises identifying different terminals that have previously been associated with the point of interest.

14 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 9 , wherein ranking the multiple access points is further based on historical user information associated with the multiple access points.

15 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 9 , wherein the operations comprise providing, for output, a pop-up window that displays metadata associated with the selectable second icon that has been selected.

16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 9 , wherein the multiple access points comprise access locations for ingress or egress of the user to the physical entity.

17 . A computing device, comprising:

one or more processors; and

one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving a map query;

identifying a point of interest that is associated with a physical entity that satisfies the map query;

identifying multiple access points that have previously been associated with the point of interest;

ranking the multiple access points based on frequencies of selections of access location query suggestions for the multiple access points and user data indicative of a user-specific utility associated with the multiple access points, wherein the user-specific utility is indicated by user data comprising travel reservation information of the user;

in response to receiving the map query, providing, for output, a map including:

a selectable first icon for the point of interest that satisfies the map query, and

a plurality of icons associated with the ranked multiple access points and comprising a selectable second icon for a first access point among the ranked multiple access points, the selectable second icon being configured to, when selected, invoke a process for returning directions to the first access point, wherein the plurality of icons are provided for output in an order based on the ranking of the multiple access points;

receiving data indicating that the selectable second icon has been selected; and

providing, for output, the directions to the first access point, based on the selectable second icon that has been selected.

The computing device of claim 17 , wherein the user-specific utility is indicated by the user data for the user indicating future travel plans of the user, and wherein ranking the multiple access points comprises providing a higher rank to a first access point among the multiple access points than a second access point among the multiple access points, when the first access point is more conducive to the future travel plans of the user than the second access point.

19 . The computing device of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise providing, for output, a pop-up window that displays metadata associated with the selectable second icon that has been selected.

20 . The computing device of claim 17 , wherein the multiple access points comprise access locations for ingress or egress of the user to the physical entity.
