Abstract

A system is provided for publishing a plurality of disparate live media output stream manifests using live input streams and pre-encoded media assets. A first instruction, comprising input manifest locations, is allocated to a first worker based on an instruction type and a priority level. At least one of a first manifest data or a second manifest data is read by the first worker from a corresponding input manifest location. A second instruction is allocated to a second worker. A next manifest segment is inserted to a disparate live output stream manifest by the second worker based on reading an ingested manifest metadata. Accordingly, a plurality of disparate live media output stream manifests is generated for each of a plurality of channels based on the disparate live output stream manifest.

Claims (44)

1 . A system comprising memory and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the memory, the one or more processors configured to:

receive an ingestion instruction identifying a location of an input manifest;

store the ingestion instruction within an instruction queue; and

responsive to a selection of the ingestion instruction from the instruction queue,

identify a reference to a media segment in the input manifest based on a timing of a plurality of media assets referenced in a programming schedule;

insert the reference to the media segment into a media output stream manifest corresponding to the programming schedule; and

provide the media output stream manifest to a content delivery system, along with an instruction for the content delivery system to stream a live output stream, based on the media output stream manifest, to a plurality of client devices.

2 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein

the ingestion instruction identifies manifest metadata, the manifest metadata comprising at least one of one or more of one or more playback rights associated with the input manifest, encoding and digital rights management metadata, an expiration date, or an execution priority.

3 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the ingestion instruction is generated by a first processing instance, and the media segment is inserted to the media output stream manifest by a second processing instance.

4 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein

the ingestion instruction identifies manifest metadata associated with the input manifest,

and wherein the reference to the media segment is inserted into the media output stream manifest based on the manifest metadata.

5 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

receive a publication instruction, wherein the publication instruction comprises one or more ad insertion indicators for insertion to the media output stream manifest.

6 . The system according to claim 4 , wherein the manifest metadata comprises a reference to each bitrate variant of the media segment.

7 . A computer-implemented method comprising:

receive an ingestion instruction identifying a location of an input manifest;

store the ingestion instruction within an instruction queue; and

responsive to a selection of the ingestion instruction from the instruction queue, responsive to a selection of the ingestion instruction from the instruction queue,

identifying, a reference to a media segment, based on a timing of a plurality of media assets referenced in a programming schedule; manifest, wherein:

inserting the reference to, the media segment into a media output stream manifest corresponding to the programming schedule; and

providing, by one or more processors, the media output stream manifest to a content delivery system along with an instruction for the content delivery system to stream a live output stream, based on the media output stream manifest to a plurality of client devices.

8 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 7 , wherein

the ingestion instruction identifies manifest metadata, the manifest metadata comprising at least one of one or more of one or more playback rights associated with the input manifest, encoding and digital rights management metadata, an expiration date, or an execution priority.

9 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 7 , wherein the ingestion instruction is generated by a first processing instance, and the media segment is inserted to the media output stream manifest by a second processing instance.

10 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 7 , wherein

the ingestion instruction identifies manifest metadata associated with the input manifest, and wherein the reference to the media segment is inserted into the media output stream manifest based on the manifest metadata.

11 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 10 , further comprising:

receiving a publication instruction, wherein the publication instruction comprises one or more ad insertion indicators for insertion to the media output stream manifest.

12 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 8 , the manifest metadata comprises a reference to each bitrate variant of the media segment.

13 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

receive an ingestion instruction identifying a location of an input manifest;

store the ingestion instruction within an instruction queue; and

responsive to a selection of the ingestion instruction from the instruction queue, identify a reference to a media segment in the input manifest based on a timing of a plurality of media assets referenced in a programming schedule;

insert the reference to the media segment into a media output stream manifest corresponding to the programming schedule; and

provide the media output stream manifest to a content delivery system, along with an instruction for the content delivery system to stream a live output stream, based on the media output stream manifest to a plurality of client devices.

14 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media according to claim 13 , wherein

the ingestion instruction identifies manifest metadata, the manifest metadata comprising at least one of one or more of one or more playback rights associated with the input manifest, encoding and digital rights management metadata, an expiration date, or an execution priority.

15 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media according to claim 13 , wherein the ingestion instruction is generated by a first processing instance, and the media segment is inserted to the media output stream manifest by a second processing instance.

16 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media according to claim 13 , wherein the ingestion instruction identifies manifest metadata, and wherein the reference to the media segment is inserted into the media output stream manifest based on the manifest metadata.

17 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media according to claim 13 , that when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to:

receive a publication instruction, wherein the publication instruction comprises one or more ad insertion indicators for insertion to the media output stream manifest.

18 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media according to claim 14 , wherein the manifest metadata comprises a reference to each bitrate variant of the media segment.
