Abstract

Systems and methods for enabling collection of signed data in a collaborative content sharing platform. One embodiment is a method including producing a form having one or more data entry components and at least one signature block component, selecting assignee users of the content sharing platform, providing the form to the selected assignee users, enabling these users to enter data and sign the form, and storing the assignee users' data in a data structure which is separate from the form, where the data structure includes a record for each assignee user, the record containing data entered by the user and electronic signature data for the user. The data structure is protected in the same manner as other data in the collaborative content sharing platform and may be accessible by some users, but not others, in accordance with their respective roles and authorizations.

Claims (52)

1 . A method for collecting user data for a shared enterprise content object, the method comprising:

generating an enterprise content object comprising data fields;

generating a form for collecting user data, the form comprising input components corresponding to the data fields of the enterprise content object and a user signature component;

sending the form to a first user, the sent form comprising a first portion of the input components and the user signature component;

sending the form to a second user, the sent form comprising a second portion of the input components and the user signature component;

receiving from the first user, selections of the first portion of the input components and a signature of the first user for the user signature component and storing the selections and the signature of the first user in a user data structure; and

receiving from the second user, selections of the second portion of the input components and a signature of the second user for the user signature component and storing the selections and the signature of the second user in the user data structure, wherein the user data structure is separate from the form storage,

wherein storing the signatures comprises storing electronic signature data as attestations associated with the corresponding input components selections without generating a signed document that contains the selections.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first user is an enterprise user and the second user is a user external to the enterprise.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the second user has access only to the data fields of the enterprise content object corresponding to the second portion of the input components.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

updating the data fields of the enterprise content object based on the selections stored in the user data structure.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the updating comprises:

validating the selections based on the authenticity of the first user signature and the second user signature.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

defining first user permissions and second user permissions to the data fields of the enterprise content object, wherein the first user permissions allow the first user to modify the data fields of the enterprise content object corresponding to the first portion of the input components and the second user permissions allow the second user to modify the data fields of the enterprise content object corresponding to the second portion of the input components.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the first user is an enterprise user and the first user permissions correspond to enterprise user permissions and the second user is a user external to the enterprise and the second user permissions correspond to external user permissions.

8 . A system for collecting user data for a shared enterprise content object, comprising:

a processor; and

a non-transitory memory coupled to the processor and comprising instructions executable by the processor for:

generating an enterprise content object comprising data fields;

generating a form for collecting user data, the form comprising input components corresponding to the data fields of the enterprise content object and a user signature component;

sending the form to a first user, the sent form comprising a first portion of the input components and the user signature component;

sending the form to a second user, the sent form comprising a second portion of the input components and the user signature component;

receiving from the first user, selections of the first portion of the input components and a signature of the first user for the user signature component and storing the selections and the signature of the first user in a user data structure; and

receiving from the second user, selections of the second portion of the input components and a signature of the second user for the user signature component and storing the selections and the signature of the second user in the user data structure, wherein the user data structure is separate from the form storage,

wherein storing the signatures comprises storing electronic signature data as attestations associated with the corresponding input components selections without generating a signed document that contains the selections.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the first user is an enterprise user and the second user is a user external to the enterprise.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the second user has access only to the data fields of the enterprise content object corresponding to the second portion of the input components.

11 . The system of claim 8 , the instructions further executable by the processor for:

updating the data fields of the enterprise content object based on the selections stored in the user data structure.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the updating comprises:

validating the selections based on the authenticity of the first user signature and the second user signature.

13 . The system of claim 8 , the instructions further executable by the processor for:

defining first user permissions and second user permissions to the data fields of the enterprise content object, wherein the first user permissions allow the first user to modify the data fields of the enterprise content object corresponding to the first portion of the input components and the second user permissions allow the second user to modify the data fields of the enterprise content object corresponding to the second portion of the input components.

14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the first user is an enterprise user and the first user permissions correspond to enterprise user permissions and the second user is a user external to the enterprise and the second user permissions correspond to external user permissions.

15 . A computer program product collecting user data for a shared enterprise content object, the computer program product stored in a non-transitory computer readable medium and comprising instructions for:

generating an enterprise content object comprising data fields;

generating a form for collecting user data, the form comprising input components corresponding to the data fields of the enterprise content object and a user signature component;

sending the form to a first user, the sent form comprising a first portion of the input components and the user signature component;

sending the form to a second user, the sent form comprising a second portion of the input components and the user signature component;

receiving from the first user, selections of the first portion of the input components and a signature of the first user for the user signature component and storing the selections and the signature of the first user in a user data structure; and

receiving from the second user, selections of the second portion of the input components and a signature of the second user for the user signature component and storing the selections and the signature of the second user in the user data structure, wherein the user data structure is separate from the form storage,

wherein storing the signatures comprises storing electronic signature data as attestations associated with the corresponding input components selections without generating a signed document that contains the selections.

16 . The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the first user is an enterprise user and the second user is a user external to the enterprise.

17 . The computer program product of claim 16 , wherein the second user has access only to the data fields of the enterprise content object corresponding to the second portion of the input components.

18 . The computer program product of claim 15 , the instructions further for:

updating the data fields of the enterprise content object based on the selections stored in the user data structure.

19 . The computer program product of claim 18 , wherein the updating comprises:

validating the selections based on the authenticity of the first user signature and the second user signature.

20 . The computer program product of claim 15 , the instructions further for:

defining first user permissions and second user permissions to the data fields of the enterprise content object, wherein the first user permissions allow the first user to modify the data fields of the enterprise content object corresponding to the first portion of the input components and the second user permissions allow the second user to modify the data fields of the enterprise content object corresponding to the second portion of the input components, wherein the first user is an enterprise user and the first user permissions correspond to enterprise user permissions and the second user is a user external to the enterprise and the second user permissions correspond to external user permissions.
