Fire pit ash cleanup
A fire pit has a combustion chamber with a perforated floor, a chute below the perforated floor directing ash and debris from the floor to an area below the chute, and a removable ash pan occupying the area below the chute and having a handle affixed thereto.
1 . A fire pit comprising:
an inner wall at least partially defining a combustion chamber;
an outer wall spaced apart from the inner wall;
a floor attached to the inner wall, the floor comprising an outer ring and a lift out section that is removable through a top opening of the combustion chamber, wherein the outer ring further comprises a recess circumscribing an opening that receives the lift out section, the recess providing a descending wall affixed to a shelf, the descending wall and shelf circumscribing the opening, the shelf supporting the lift out section and the descending wall preventing lateral movement thereof;
a downward projecting rim extending from the lift out section that rests on the shelf;
a chute below the lift out section that directs ash falling through a perforated portion of the lift out section to an area below the chute; and
a removable ash pan below the chute.
2 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein said removable ash pan is affixed to said chute for selective removal therewith.
3 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein said lift out section is centrally located with said floor.
4 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein said lift out section is non-centrally located with said floor.
5 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein the lift out section comprises a dome shaped cover.
6 . The fire pit of claim 1 , further comprising a scaffold structure over the perforated portion.
7 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein the lift out section comprises a frusto-conical shaped cover.
8 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein the lift out section further comprises a cover that extends upwardly from the floor.
9 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein said floor is comprised of a mesh material.
10 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein said floor comprises a grate.
11 . The fire pit of claim 1 , further comprising a cover having a handle affixed on a top thereof.
12 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein the chute comprises a plurality of planar segments.
13 . The fire pit of claim 1 , wherein said ash pan defines an orifice sized to receive a removable handle for facilitating removal of said ash pan.
