Abstract

Systems and methods are described herein for updating search results based on a user's comment or a conversation among users using a media guidance application. A set of search results may be presented to a user or users. Comments or a conversation about the search results may be analyzed by the media guidance application. Selected comments by a user determined to have a greater weight may be used to update the search results.

Claims (54)

1 . A method comprising:

generating for display on a client device, using control circuitry, a user interface comprising a list of media asset identifiers based on a search request, wherein each identifier of the list is selectable to play a respective media asset;

capturing audio data of a conversation of a plurality of users in a vicinity of the client device via a microphone;

analyzing the captured audio data of the conversation of the plurality of users in the vicinity of the client device to identify a plurality of keywords relevant to the search request wherein the analyzing comprises:

identifying: (a) a plurality of words in the captured audio data, and (b) a plurality of respective word relevance scores,

and determining the plurality of keywords from the plurality of identified words based at least in part on the determined plurality of respective relevance scores;

modifying, using the control circuitry, the display of the user interface on the client device to include a display of a plurality of selectable options, wherein each option of the plurality of selectable options corresponds to a respective keyword of the plurality of keywords; and

based on user interface input selecting a subset of the plurality of selectable options, further modifying, using the control circuitry, the display of the user interface on the client device to filter the list of media asset identifiers based on the selected subset of the plurality of selectable options.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising initiating, using the control circuitry, a home assistant device, comprising the microphone, to monitor the conversation of the plurality of users, wherein the home assistant device is selected based on its proximity to the display of the client device.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the home assistant device is initiated during a period in which the list of media asset identifiers is displayed on the client device.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the analyzing the captured audio data of the conversation further comprises converting, using the control circuitry, the captured audio data to text.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, using the control circuitry, based at least in part on the captured audio data of the conversation, a first user and a second user;

determining, using the control circuitry, a first weight for the first user and a second weight for the second user;

analyzing, using the control circuitry, the captured audio data of the conversation to associate a first subset of the plurality of keywords to the first user and a second subset of the plurality of keywords to the second user; and

further modifying, using the control circuitry, the display of the user interface on the client device to order the list of media asset identifiers based on the first weight and the second weight.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the display of the plurality of selectable options further includes the display of an icon corresponding to the association of the respective keyword with the first or the second user.

7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein:

the determining the first user and the second user is based on matching voice patterns of the captured audio data to respective voice pattern profiles of a voice pattern profile database, and

the determining the first weight for the first user and the second weight for the second user is based on a weight corresponding to the respective matching voice pattern profiles.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising

receiving, using the control circuitry, a remove command for a selectable option of the selected subset of the plurality of selectable options; and

updating, using the control circuitry, the list of media asset identifiers based on the received remove command.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of keywords include one of: a content title, an actor, a character, a content genre, and a content type.

10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a selection of a media asset from the list of media asset identifiers; and

storing the selection of a media asset identifier in association with the plurality of keywords in a user preference profile of the client device.

11 . A system comprising control circuitry configured to:

generate for display on a client device a user interface comprising a list of media asset identifiers based on a search request, wherein each identifier of the list is selectable to play a respective media asset;

capture audio data of a conversation of a plurality of users in a vicinity of the client device via a microphone;

analyze the captured audio data of the conversation of the plurality of users in the vicinity of the client device to identify a plurality of keywords relevant to the search request wherein the control circuitry configured to analyze is further configured to:

identify: (a) a plurality of words in the captured audio data, and (b) a plurality of respective word relevance scores,

and determine the plurality of keywords from the plurality of identified words based at least in part on the determined plurality of respective relevance scores;

modify, the display of the user interface on the client device to include a display of a plurality of selectable options, wherein each option of the plurality of selectable options corresponds to a respective keyword of the plurality of keywords; and

based on user interface input selecting a subset of the plurality of selectable options, further modify the display of the user interface on the client device to filter the list of media asset identifiers based on the selected subset of the plurality of selectable options.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to initiate a home assistant device, comprising the microphone, to monitor the conversation of the plurality of users, wherein the home assistant device is selected based on its proximity to the display of the client device.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured initiate the home assistant device during a period in which the list of media asset identifiers is displayed on the client device.

14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry configured to analyze the captured audio data of the conversation is further configured to convert the captured audio data to text.

15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

determine, based at least in part on the captured audio data of the conversation, a first user and a second user;

determine, using the control circuitry, a first weight for the first user and a second weight for the second user;

analyze the captured audio data of the conversation to associate a first subset of the plurality of keywords to the first user and a second subset of the plurality of keywords to the second user; and

further modify the display of the user interface on the client device to order the list of media asset identifiers based on the first weight and the second weight.

16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the display of the plurality of selectable options further includes the display of an icon corresponding to the association of the respective keyword with the first or the second user.

17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein:

the determining the first user and the second user is based on matching voice patterns of the captured audio data to respective voice pattern profiles of a voice pattern profile database, and

the determining the first weight for the first user and the second weight for the second user is based on a weight corresponding to the respective matching voice pattern profiles.

18 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

receive a remove command for a selectable option of the selected subset of the plurality of selectable options; and

update the list of media asset identifiers based on the received remove command.

19 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of keywords include one of: a content title, an actor, a character, a content genre, and a content type.

20 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

receive a selection of a media asset from the list of media asset identifiers; and

store the selection of a media asset identifier in association with the plurality of keywords in a user preference profile of the client device.
