Abstract

The systems, methods and apparatuses described herein provide a virtual integrated circuit card (ICC). In one aspect, a method of creating a virtual ICC may be provided. The method may comprise obtaining executable code configured to run on a user device to facilitate financial transactions, preparing a first encryption key usable by the executable code, receiving a second encryption key associated with the user device, forming a virtual ICC comprising the executable code and the first encryption key, and encrypting the virtual ICC with the second encryption key. In another aspect, a virtual ICC may be embodied on a non-transitory computer-readable medium. The virtual ICC may comprise executable code configured to run on a user device to facilitate financial transactions and a first encryption key usable by the executable code. The virtual ICC may be encrypted using a second encryption key associated with the user device.

Claims (49)

1. An electronic device, comprising:

wherein the secure zone is configured to:

receive requests to execute tasks from the non-secure zone via the interface,

apply ones of respective sets of permissions corresponding to accesses to portions of the secure zone while tasks are executed, the respective sets of permissions being based on at least one of: respective information associated with the tasks and information in digital certificates of respective code providers of said tasks, said respective sets of permissions describing those portions of the secure zone and/or other components of the electronic device that can be accessed by respective ones of said tasks, and

store information corresponding to one or more of the digital certificates, signatures, and keys in one or more respective secure dedicated storages; and

a communication port via which the electronic device is configured to receive:

from a first server, a first subtask representing a virtual integrated circuit card (ICC) and comprising data and first executable code configured to facilitate secure transactions via said electronic device, and

from a second server, a first task comprising second executable code that instructs a processor of the electronic device to execute the first executable code of the first subtask,

wherein network capabilities of said electronic device are accessible by tasks executing within the secure zone as well as the non-secure zone.

2. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the secure zone is further configured to execute subtasks designed to interface to other subtasks or tasks not known in advance.

3. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein information stored in the one or more respective secure dedicated storages is usable to identify and/or authenticate the electronic device and/or the secure zone.

4. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the secure zone further includes a supervisor and the interface is configured to receive the tasks from the non-secure zone and pass code associated with the tasks to the supervisor for execution by the secure processor.

5. The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein a digital certificate sufficient to authenticate a code provider associated with the tasks is provided with the code.

6. The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein the supervisor is configured to obtain certificates by issuing requests to a remote server via an operating system executing in the non-secure zone and the communication port.

7. The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein the supervisor is configured to access the communication port via an operating system executing in the non-secure zone.

8. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the requests to execute tasks from the non-secure zone and any one or more subtasks, if present, include one or more permissions which describe accesses respective code associated with the tasks and subtasks, if present, may have to various portions of the secure zone and/or any peripheral devices.

9. The electronic device of claim 8 , wherein the one or more permissions are established by one or more certificate authorities.

10. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein respective digital certificates associated with respective ones of the tasks contain task permissions.

11. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the tasks are digitally signed by their respective code providers.

12. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein respective task digital certificates are supplied with the tasks and used to validate a digital signature of a respective code provider of a respective one of the tasks.

13. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the electronic device stores one or more ICC indirect subtasks provided by a financial institution.

14. The electronic device of claim 13 , wherein the electronic device is configured to execute the one or more ICC indirect subtasks to perform online transactions.

15. The electronic device of claim 13 , wherein at least one of the one or more ICC indirect subtasks represents and acts as a virtual ICC.

16. The electronic device of claim 8 , wherein the electronic device stores one or more indirect subtasks selectable by a user.

17. The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein the supervisor is configured to control access to components of the secure zone and to enforce operational rules of the secure zone.

18. The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein the supervisor is configured to check that any received code fulfills certain requirements before loading the received code within the secure zone.

19. The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein at least one of the one or more cryptographic engines is configured to be used by the supervisor for digital certificate verification.

20. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the secure zone further comprises a random number generator (RNG).

21. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the one or more respective secure dedicated storages are one or more certificate storages and at least some of the or more respective secure dedicated storages are one or more dedicated key storages.

22. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein the one or more dedicated key storages store one or more private keys, one or more public key(s) associated with the digital certificates, and/or one or more unique device identifiers.

23. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the first code is digitally signed by its code provider.

24. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the non-secure zone is configured to invoke tasks for execution in the secure zone.

25. A method for securely storing and providing payment information using an electronic device, comprising (i) a screen, (ii) a non-secure zone, (iii) a secure zone including a secure processor and one or more cryptographic engines configured to implement one or more cryptographic algorithms, (iv) an interface, the secure zone being communicatively coupled to the non-secure zone via the interface, and the interface being configured to receive information corresponding to messages, codes, or tasks from the non-secure zone, and (v) a communication port, the method comprising:
