Abstract

The present disclosure generally relates to engaging in cross device interactions. The method includes at a first device with a first display, while a second device having a second display is placed over a first region of the first display, detecting, via input devices of the first device, a first input. In response to detecting the first input and in accordance with a determination that the first input occurred while focus was directed to the second device, the method includes causing a response to the first input to be displayed on the second display. In response to detecting the first input and in accordance with a determination that the first input occurred while focus was directed to the first device, the method includes displaying, on the first display, a response to the first input without causing a response to the first input to be displayed on the second display.

a first display;

one or more input devices;

one or more processors;

memory; and

one or more programs stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:

while the first electronic device is in communication with a second electronic device:

displaying, via the first display, a respective user interface including a first user interface element containing one or more selectable options associated with the second electronic device, wherein the first user interface element is displayed at a first location in the respective user interface relative to a first portion of the first display corresponding to content from the second electronic device, and the one or more selectable options are for controlling one or more operations of the second electronic device;

while displaying the first user interface element, detecting, via the one or more input devices, a user selection of a first selectable option of the one or more selectable options associated with the second electronic device; and

in response to detecting the user selection:

initiating a process to transmit a signal to the second electronic device to perform a first operation from the one or more operations of the second electronic device corresponding to the first selectable option; and

updating the respective user interface based on the first operation performed by the second electronic device corresponding to the first selectable option.

11 . The first electronic device of claim 10 , wherein the first user interface element is displayed adjacent to the first portion of the first display.

12 . The first electronic device of claim 10 , the one or more programs further including instructions for:

detecting an event corresponding to movement of a portion of the first display corresponding to the content from the second electronic device from the first portion of the first display to a second portion of the first display, different from the first portion; and

in response to detecting the event:

ceasing to display the first user interface element at the first location in the respective user interface, and

displaying, via the first display, the first user interface element at a second location in the respective user interface relative to the second portion of the first display corresponding to the content from the second electronic device.

13 . The first electronic device of claim 10 , wherein:

in accordance with a determination that the first portion of the first display has a first orientation, the first user interface element is displayed at a first relative position relative to the first portion of the first display, and

in accordance with a determination that the first portion of the first display has a second orientation, different from the first orientation, the first user interface element is displayed at the first relative position relative to the first portion of the first display.

14 . The first electronic device of claim 10 , wherein the one or more selectable options are for recently-accessed applications on the second electronic device.
