Abstract

A method performed by a UE for Delay Status Reporting (DSR) is provided. The method receives, from a BS, configuration information related to a Logical Channel Group (LCG). The method generates a DSR Medium Access Control (MAC) Control Element (CE) including a first field indicating a buffer size for the LCG and transmits the DSR MAC CE to the BS. The buffer size indicates a total amount of delay-critical data for the LCG. The delay-critical data for the LCG includes a first Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Service Data Unit (SDU), for which a first discard timer has a remaining time value less than a time threshold associated with the LCG, and a second PDCP SDU belonging to a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) set that includes at least one PDCP SDU for which a second discard timer has a remaining time value less than the time threshold.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, from the BS, the time threshold associated with the LCG via the RRC signaling.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein triggering the DSR procedure comprises:

triggering the DSR procedure upon determining that a remaining time value of a discard timer associated with a PDCP SDU belonging to the LCG has become less than the time threshold and no DSR procedure has been triggered.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining the buffer size for the LCG based on either a first predefined table or a second predefined table.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein:

the first predefined table is for eXtended Reality (XR) services.

6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein determining the buffer size for the LCG comprises:

determining the buffer size for the LCG based on the first predefined table in response to receiving a table indication from the BS via the RRC signaling; and

determining the buffer size for the LCG based on the second predefined table in a case that the table indication is not received from the BS.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the DSR MAC CE further comprises a second field indicating a minimum remaining time of the delay-critical data for the LCG.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting, to the BS, a Scheduling Request (SR) for requesting uplink resources for the transmission of the DSR MAC CE.

9 . A User Equipment (UE) for Delay Status Reporting (DSR), the UE comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium coupled to the at least one processor and storing one or more computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the UE to:

receive, from a base station (BS), configuration information related to a Logical Channel Group (LCG) via Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling;

trigger a DSR procedure;

generate a DSR Medium Access Control (MAC) Control Element (CE) comprising a first field indicating a buffer size for the LCG; and

transmit the DSR MAC CE to the BS, wherein:

the buffer size indicates a total amount of delay-critical data for the LCG, and

the delay-critical data for the LCG comprises:

a first Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Service Data Unit (SDU) for which a first discard timer has a remaining time value less than a time threshold associated with the LCG; and

a second PDCP SDU belonging to a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) set that includes at least one PDCP SDU for which a second discard timer has a remaining time value less than the time threshold.

10 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the one or more computer-executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the UE to:

receive, from the BS, the time threshold associated with the LCG via the RRC signaling.

11 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein triggering the DSR procedure comprises:

triggering the DSR procedure upon determining that a remaining time value of a discard timer associated with a PDCP SDU belonging to the LCG has become less than the time threshold and no DSR procedure has been triggered.

12 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the one or more computer-executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the UE to:

determine the buffer size for the LCG based on either a first predefined table or a second predefined table.

13 . The UE of claim 12 , wherein:

the first predefined table is for eXtended Reality (XR) services.

14 . The UE of claim 12 , wherein determining the buffer size for the LCG comprises:

determining the buffer size for the LCG based on the first predefined table in response to receiving a table indication from the BS via the RRC signaling; and

determining the buffer size for the LCG based on the second predefined table in a case that the table indication is not received from the BS.

15 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the DSR MAC CE further comprises a second field indicating a minimum remaining time of the delay-critical data for the LCG.

16 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the one or more computer-executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the UE to:

transmit, to the BS, a Scheduling Request (SR) for requesting uplink resources for the transmission of the DSR MAC CE.

17 . A Base Station (BS) for configuring Delay Status Reporting (DSR), the BS comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium coupled to the at least one processor and storing one or more computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the BS to:

transmit, to a user equipment (UE), configuration information related to a Logical Channel Group (LCG) via Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling; and
