Abstract

The disclosure relates to a drug delivery device including a plunger disposed within a case and an audible indicator that comprises a resilient element. The plunger is slidable from a proximal position to a distal position within the case and the resilient element is in a first configuration when the plunger is in the proximal position, such that the resilient element is deflected radially outwards to a second configuration during movement of the plunger from the proximal position towards the distal position. The resilient element moves from the second configuration towards the first configuration when the plunger moves towards or reaches the distal position, thereby generating an audible and tactile signal.

Claims (39)

1 . A drug delivery device comprising:

a housing component;

a plunger movable within the housing component between a proximal position and a distal position; and

a resilient element disposed in a radially deflected state relative to the plunger when the plunger is in the proximal position and as the plunger moves toward the distal position;

wherein the resilient element is configured to move radially relative to the plunger to a less deflected state and generate an audible signal as the plunger moves into the distal position.

2 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the resilient element is a leaf spring.

3 . The drug delivery device of claim 2 , wherein the drug delivery device comprises a longitudinal axis extending from a proximal end of the drug delivery device towards a distal end of the drug delivery device; and

wherein a proximal section of the resilient element extends parallel to the longitudinal axis of the drug delivery device when the resilient element is in the less deflected state.

4 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the housing component comprises an arm extending distally from a proximal end portion of the housing component; and

wherein the arm is coupled to the resilient element.

5 . The drug delivery device of claim 4 , wherein the resilient element is received within a guiding recess arranged on the arm.

6 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the resilient element comprises a distal section and a proximal section; and

wherein an angle between the distal section and the proximal section is larger in the radially deflected state than an angle between the distal section and the proximal section in the less deflected state.

7 . The drug delivery device of claim 6 , wherein the resilient element is configured to move towards the less deflected state when a proximal plunger end passes the distal section of the resilient element.

8 . The drug delivery device of claim 6 , wherein a distal end of the distal section of the resilient element is bent radially away from the plunger when the resilient element is in the radially deflected state.

9 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the resilient element is bent radially inward toward the plunger when the resilient element is in the radially deflected state.

10 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the resilient element comprises a single metal component.

11 . The drug delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the housing component is connected to a proximal end of a main housing of the drug delivery device.

12 . The drug delivery device of claim 11 , wherein the housing component comprises a proximal end cap and an elongate rod extending distally from the proximal end cap;

wherein the flexible arm and the elongate rod are disposed in the proximal end of the main housing component when the proximal end cap is coupled to the main housing; and

wherein the elongate rod is configured to extend inside the plunger.

13 . A drive and audible indicator assembly of a drug delivery device, the assembly comprising:

a plunger movable within a housing component of the drug delivery device between a proximal position and a distal position; and

a resilient element disposed in a radially inward deflected state relative to the plunger when the plunger is in the proximal position and as the plunger moves toward the distal position;

wherein the resilient element is configured to move radially relative to the plunger to a less deflected state and generate an audible signal as the plunger moves into the distal position.

14 . The assembly of claim 13 , wherein the resilient element is configured to be coupled to an arm extending distally from a proximal end of the housing component.

15 . The assembly of claim 13 , wherein the resilient element is a leaf spring.

16 . The assembly of claim 13 , wherein the resilient element comprises a distal section and a proximal section; and

wherein an angle between the distal section and the proximal section is larger in the radially inward deflected state than an angle between the distal section and the proximal section in the less deflected state.

17 . The assembly of claim 16 , wherein a plunger proximal end is disposed distally relative to at least a portion of the distal section of the resilient element when the plunger is in the distal position.

18 . The assembly of claim 17 , wherein the plunger comprises a longitudinal axis extending from the proximal plunger end to a distal plunger end; and

wherein the proximal section of the resilient element extends parallel to the longitudinal axis of the plunger when the resilient element is in the less deflected state.

19 . The assembly of claim 16 , wherein a distal end of the distal section of the resilient element is bent radially outward relative to the plunger when the resilient element is in the radially inward deflected state.

20 . A drug delivery device comprising:

a housing component;

a syringe containing a medicament, the syringe disposed in the housing component;

a plunger movable relative to the housing component between a proximal position and a distal position, wherein the plunger is configured to expel the medicament from the syringe as the plunger moves toward the distal position; and

a resilient element disposed in a radially inward deflected state relative to the plunger when the plunger is in the proximal position and as the plunger moves toward the distal position;

wherein the resilient element is configured to move radially relative to the plunger to a less deflected state and generate an audible signal as the plunger moves into the distal position.
