Abstract

Systems and methods for converting unstructured text messages into usable order details. Component parts corresponding to structure and quote data indicative of a transaction are parsed from unstructured text messages. The parsing includes matching character strings in the messages with a hierarchy of expressions and identifying the component parts based on the matching and a transaction deal status. The unstructured text messages are displayed in a first window of a graphical user interface (GUI) in real-time including automatically highlighting the identified component parts of the messages and displaying a selectable web link configured to launch a web interface. The identified component parts are displayed in a second window of the GUI in a normalized format in real-time. An editable order ticket comprising the component parts is created upon selection of the selectable web link in the first window and displayed in a newly launched web interface.

Claims (50)

1. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-readable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform the functions comprising:

receiving, over a network, one or more unstructured plain text messages from a counterparty device;

parsing one or more component parts corresponding to structure and quote data and indicative of a transaction from the one or more unstructured plain text messages by:

determining a deal status of the transaction using one or more of a history and an activity of the counterparty device stored in a database,

matching one or more strings of characters in the one or more unstructured plain text messages with a hierarchy of expressions, and

identifying the one or more component parts of the transaction based on the determined deal status and the matching;

displaying, in a first window of an interactive graphical user interface (GUI), the one or more unstructured plain text messages in real-time including:

automatically highlighting, in the first window, the identified one or more component parts corresponding to the structure and quote data of the one or more unstructured plain text messages, and

generating and displaying, in the first window, a selectable web link, the selectable web link configured to launch a web interface that includes an editable electronic order ticket;

displaying, in a second window of the interactive GUI, the identified one or more component parts corresponding to the structure and quote data in a normalized format in real-time;

creating, upon a selection of the selectable web link in the first window, the editable electronic order ticket, the editable electronic order ticket comprising the one or more component parts of the transaction parsed from the one or more unstructured plain text messages in real-time; and

displaying, in a newly launched web interface, the editable electronic order ticket.

2. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the one or more component parts comprise one or more of a future, forward, swap, spread, option, option on a future and swaption.

3. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the functions further comprise:

receiving, by the interactive GUI, user input to create structures, manage quotes, disseminate quotes, analyze quotes and price structures, initiate trades, and communicating with the counterparty device.

4. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the first window comprises one or more of an instant messaging screen, a text messaging screen, and a quote interface operable to input and define structures and quotes.

5. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the second window comprises:

a product screen configured to display a quote associated with the transaction;

data entry fields configured for entering, editing, matching, and cancelling the quote; and

a communications screen configured to communicate with one or more selected contacts.

6. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the functions further comprise:

pairing the one or more unstructured plain text messages with contextual information using at least the determined deal status, wherein identifying the one or more component parts of the transaction is based at least in part on the pairing.

7. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the functions further comprise:

transmitting, via a network interface, the editable electronic order ticket to one or more exchanges for fulfillment.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the functions further comprise:

receiving, via the web interface, user input comprising one or more of:

edits to order details included in the editable electronic order ticket;

user preferences identifying one or more exchanges to which the editable electronic order ticket is transmitted for fulfillment, the one or more exchanges comprising one or more of an electronic exchange and a floor-based exchange;

a confirmation that all order details included in the editable electronic order ticket are as desired; and

a request to transmit the editable electronic order ticket to the one or more exchanges for fulfillment.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the functions further comprise:

generating an instant message notice comprising the selectable web link; and

transmitting the instant message notice to one or more recipients associated with the one or more exchanges.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the functions further comprise:

receiving, via the web interface, input from the one or more recipients including one or more of edits to the order details of the editable electronic order ticket, a confirmation that all order details are as desired, and a request to transmit a fulfillment response to an initiator of the editable electronic order ticket.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the one or more recipients have a predetermined period of time in which to respond to the instant message notice with offers to fulfill the editable electronic order ticket, the offers including one or more of a price and a quantity, and

wherein at a conclusion of the predetermined period, the interactive GUI displays recipient responses cumulatively, such that quantities of responses within a predetermined price range are summed and displayed as a single cumulative quantity associated with a single price.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the interactive GUI provides a predetermined selection period during which to receive user input comprising a selection of one or more of the responses to initiate a trade at a selected response quantity and price combination,

wherein if the selection comprises a cumulative quantity that is higher than the quantity defined in the editable electronic order ticket, the selection initiates a trade for the higher quantity.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the functions further comprise:

if more than one response is needed to fulfill the editable electronic order ticket, automatically allocating how responses will be used to fulfill the editable electronic order ticket according to the following criteria:

(i) price, where responses having a best price will be used first, the best price comprising a lowest sell price or a highest purchase price;

(ii) quantity; and

(iii) response type, where non-contingent responses are allocated ahead of responses having one or more contingencies.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the functions further comprise:

if more than one response is needed to fulfill the editable electronic order ticket, applying a single price to all such responses used to fulfill the editable electronic order ticket, the single price equaling a highest sell price or a lowest purchase price of all of the responses used to fulfill the editable electronic order ticket.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the functions further comprise:

transmitting the editable electronic order ticket to one or more different exchanges if the editable electronic order ticket is not completely fulfilled.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the normalized format comprises a normalized standard format.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the first window includes a message console and the second window includes a quote console.
