METHODS OF FACILITATING EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
A method of driver behavior that includes generating, by a mobile device located inside a vehicle, telematics data associated with operation of the vehicle, and transmitting, from the mobile device to one or more processors via wireless communication, the telematics data in real-time. The method also includes analyzing the telematics data to determine whether a driving score for a driver, determining whether the driving score is greater than a threshold value, determining a discount based upon the driving score being higher than the threshold, and generating a communication based upon the discount. The method further includes transmitting the communication.
1 . A computer-implemented method of vehicle accident response, the computer-implemented method comprising:
generating, by a mobile device located inside a vehicle, telematics data associated with operation of the vehicle;
transmitting, from the mobile device to one or more processors via wireless communication, the telematics data;
analyzing, by the one or more processors, the telematics data to determine that an accident involving the vehicle has occurred;
analyzing, by the one or more processors, the telematics data to determine a likelihood of injury due to the accident;
generating, by the one or more processors, a question (i) based upon the telematics data and the likelihood of injury and (ii) in response to determining that the accident has occurred, wherein the question asks if: (i) a driver needs an ambulance and/or (ii) the driver needs police;
transmitting, by the one or more processors, the question to the mobile device located inside the vehicle; and
presenting, by the one or more processors, on the mobile device located inside the vehicle, the question.
2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining the likelihood of injury includes:
determining the likelihood of injury based upon accelerometer data included in the telematics data.
3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining the likelihood of injury includes:
determining a likely severity of the accident.
4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein:
the question is included in a communication;
the computer-implemented method further includes determining, by the one or more processors, a third-party emergency service to recommend to the driver; and
the transmitting the question is included in transmitting the communication the mobile device, and an indication of the third-party emergency service is included in the transmitted communication.
5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 4 , further comprising:
receiving, by the one or more processors, a selection of the third-party emergency service from the mobile device; and
transmitting, by the one or more processors, a notification to emergency services to request the third-party emergency service.
6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 4 , further comprising:
automatically transmitting, by the one or more processors, a notification to emergency services to request the third-party emergency service.
7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further including:
receiving, at the one or more processors, user preferences selected using a mobile device application of the mobile device, the user preferences relating to preferred content of a communication which includes the question; and
wherein the computer-implemented method further includes generating, by the one or more processors, a customized communication including the preferred content based upon the user preferences.
8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the question asks both: (i) if the driver needs the ambulance and (i) if the driver needs the police.
9 . A system for vehicle accident response, the system comprising:
a mobile device located inside a vehicle, wherein the mobile device is configured to generate telematics data associated with operation of the vehicle;
one or more processors; and
one or more memories storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
receive the telematics data from the mobile device;
analyze the telematics data to determine that an accident involving the vehicle has occurred;
analyze the telematics data to determine a likelihood of injury due to the accident;
generate a question (i) based upon the telematics data and the likelihood of injury and (ii) in response to determining that the accident has occurred, wherein the question asks if: (i) a driver needs an ambulance and/or (ii) the driver needs police;
transmit the question to the mobile device located inside the vehicle; and
present, on the mobile device located inside the vehicle, the question.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the one or more processors to determine the likelihood of injury by:
determining the likelihood of injury based upon accelerometer data included in the telematics data.
11 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the one or more processors to determine the likelihood of injury by:
determining a likely severity of the accident.
12 . The system of claim 9 , wherein:
the question is included in a communication; and
the instructions, when executed, cause the one or more processors to:
determine a third-party emergency service to recommend to the driver; and
transmit the question to the mobile device by including the question in a communication transmitted to the mobile device, wherein the communication includes an indication of the third-party emergency service.
13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the one or more processors to:
automatically transmit a notification to emergency services to request the third-party emergency service.
14 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the question asks both: (i) if the driver needs the ambulance and (i) if the driver needs the police.
15 . A tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium storing executable instructions for vehicle accident response that, when executed by one or more processors of a computer system, cause the computer system to:
receive telematics data generated by a mobile device located inside a vehicle;
analyze the telematics data to determine that an accident involving the vehicle has occurred;
analyze the telematics data to determine a likelihood of injury due to the accident;
generate a question (i) based upon the telematics data and the likelihood of injury and (ii) in response to determining that the accident has occurred, wherein the question asks if: (i) a driver needs an ambulance and/or (ii) the driver needs police;
transmit the question to the mobile device located inside the vehicle; and
present, on the mobile device located inside the vehicle, the question.
16 . The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the computer system to determine the likelihood of injury by:
determining a likely severity of the accident.
17 . The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein:
the question is included in a communication; and
the instructions, when executed, cause the computer system to:
determine a third-party emergency service to recommend to the driver; and
transmit the question to the mobile device by including the question in a communication transmitted to the mobile device, wherein the communication includes an indication of the third-party emergency service.
18 . The computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the computer system to:
receive a selection of the third-party emergency service from the mobile device; and
transmit a notification to emergency services to request the third-party emergency service.
19 . The computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the computer system to:
automatically transmit a notification to emergency services to request the third-party emergency service.
20 . The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the question asks both: (i) if the driver needs the ambulance and (i) if the driver needs the police.
