Abstract

A feedback controller is provided to generate a quantum feedback operation to control one or more ancilla qubits in a quantum error correcting code. The quantum feedback operation is based on the measurement of the one or more ancilla qubits. The feedback controller is operable to dynamically adjust a state discrimination according to previous measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits.

Claims (46)

1 - 40 . (canceled)

41 . A system, comprising:

a controller configured to generate a quantum feedback operation according to one or more ancilla qubits in a quantum error correcting code, wherein the quantum feedback operation is configured to increase a likelihood that the one or more ancilla qubits will subsequently be measured in a predetermined state.

42 . The system of claim 41 , wherein:

the controller is configured to generate an error detection event according to measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits.

43 . The system of claim 41 , wherein:

the quantum feedback operation is determined according to a state discrimination protocol.

44 . The system of claim 43 , wherein:

the controller is configured to dynamically adjust the discrimination protocol according to previous measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits.

45 . The system of claim 41 , wherein:

the quantum feedback operation is determined according to a state discrimination parameter.

46 . The system of claim 45 , wherein:

the state discrimination parameter is a state discrimination threshold.

47 . The system of claim 45 , wherein:

the controller is configured to dynamically adjust the state discrimination parameter according to previous measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits.

48 . The system of claim 41 , wherein:

the controller is configured to adjust, in real-time, a state discrimination according to the one or more ancilla qubits.

49 . The system of claim 41 , wherein:

the quantum feedback operation is configured to decrease a likelihood that measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits will decay.

50 . The system of claim 41 , wherein:

the quantum feedback operation is a conditioned operation, and

the controller is configured to generate a non-conditional quantum operation.

51 . A method, comprising:

via a quantum controller:

measuring one or more ancilla qubits in a quantum error correcting code;

generating a quantum feedback operation according to the one or more ancilla qubits, wherein the quantum feedback operation is configured to increase a likelihood that the one or more ancilla qubits will subsequently be measured in a predetermined state;

applying the quantum feedback operation; and

subsequently measuring the one or more ancilla qubits.

52 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the method comprises:

generating an error detection event according to measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits.

53 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the method comprises:

determining the quantum feedback operation according to a state discrimination protocol.

54 . The method of claim 53 , wherein the method comprises:

dynamically adjusting the discrimination protocol according to previous measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits.

55 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the method comprises:

determining the quantum feedback operation according to a state discrimination parameter.

56 . The method of claim 55 , wherein:

the state discrimination parameter is a state discrimination threshold.

57 . The method of claim 55 , wherein the method comprises:

dynamically adjusting the state discrimination parameter according to previous measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits.

58 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the method comprises:

dynamically adjusting a state discrimination according to previous measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits.

59 . The method of claim 51 , wherein:

the quantum feedback operation is configured to decrease a likelihood that measurements of the one or more ancilla qubits will decay.

60 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the method comprises:

generating a non-conditional quantum operation.
