Abstract

Control logic in a memory device executes a programming operation to program the set of memory blocks of the set of memory planes to a set of a programming levels. The control logic identify a subset of memory blocks of one or more memory planes that pass a program count operation associated with a last programming level of the set of programming levels. The control logic further terminates execution of the programming operation on the one or more memory planes associated with the subset of memory blocks.

Claims (36)

1 . A memory device comprising:

a set of memory planes comprising a set of memory blocks; and

control logic, operatively coupled with the set of memory planes, to perform operations comprising:

initiating a programming operation to program the set of memory blocks of the set of memory planes to a set of programming levels;

identifying a subset of memory blocks of one or more memory planes that pass a program count operation associated with a last programming level of the set of programming levels; and

terminating execution of the programming operation on the one or more memory planes associated with the subset of memory blocks.

2 . The memory device of claim 1 , the operations further comprising identifying a further subset of memory blocks of one or more memory planes that fail the program count operation associated with the last programming level.

3 . The memory device of claim 2 , the operations further comprising updating a register value to mark the one or more memory planes associated with the further subset of memory blocks as one or more lagging memory planes.

4 . The memory device of claim 2 , the operations further comprising:

selecting a trim set from a set of trim sets; and

causing the trim set to be applied to the further subset of memory blocks.

5 . The memory device of claim 4 , wherein applying the trim set to the further subset of memory blocks causes an increase in a programming strength associated with the further subset of memory blocks.

6 . The memory device of claim 4 , wherein the trim set comprises one or more of a relaxed program loop limit setting, a maximum program voltage setting, a program pulse width setting, a program verify criteria setting, or a selective slow program convergence setting.

7 . The memory device of claim 1 , wherein terminating the programming operation with respect to the subset of memory blocks comprises preventing application of voltage to one or more wordlines associated with the subset of memory blocks.

8 . A method comprising:

initiating a programming operation to program a set of memory blocks of a set of memory planes to a set of programming levels;

identifying a subset of memory blocks of one or more memory planes that pass a program count operation associated with a last programming level of the set of programming levels; and

terminating execution of the programming operation on the one or more memory planes associated with the subset of memory blocks.

9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising identifying a further subset of memory blocks of one or more memory planes that fail the program count operation associated with the last programming level.

10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising updating a register value to mark the one or more memory planes associated with the further subset of memory blocks as one or more lagging memory planes.

11 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

selecting a trim set from a set of trim sets; and

causing the trim set to be applied to the further subset of memory blocks.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein applying the trim set to the further subset of memory blocks causes an increase in a programming strength associated with the further subset of memory blocks.

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the trim set comprises one or more of a relaxed program loop limit setting, a maximum program voltage setting, a program pulse width setting, a program verify criteria setting, or a selective slow program convergence setting.

14 . The method of claim 8 , wherein terminating the programming operation with respect to the subset of memory blocks comprises preventing application of voltage to one or more wordlines associated with the subset of memory blocks.

15 . A memory device comprising:

a set of memory planes comprising a set of memory blocks; and

control logic, operatively coupled with the set of memory planes, to perform operations comprising:

executing a first program sub-operation to terminate a programming operation with respect to a first subset of the set of memory planes that passed programming; and

executing a second program sub-operation to apply a trim set to a second subset of the set of memory planes that failed programming.

16 . The memory device of claim 15 , wherein the first subset of the set of memory planes satisfy a first condition, wherein the first condition is satisfied when a corresponding first failed bit count is less than a threshold count level.

17 . The memory device of claim 16 , wherein the second subset of the set of memory planes satisfy a second condition, wherein the second condition is satisfied when a corresponding second failed bit count is greater than the threshold count level.

18 . The memory device of claim 16 , wherein the trim set comprises one or more of a relaxed program loop limit setting, a maximum program voltage setting, a program pulse width setting, a program verify criteria setting, or a selective slow program convergence setting.

19 . The memory device of claim 16 , wherein applying the trim set to the second subset of the set of memory planes causes an increase in a programming strength associated with the second subset of the set of memory planes.

20 . The memory device of claim 16 , wherein the first program sub-operation prevents application of voltage to one or more wordlines associated with the first subset of the set of memory planes.
