Abstract

Inventory at a remote location may be verified by transmitting a security key associated with uniquely identifying object identification information from a verification server to a client machine at the remote location. The security key may then be used to generate a multi-view interactive digital media representation (MVIDMR) of the object that includes a plurality of images captured from different viewpoints. The MVIDMR may then be transmitted to the verification server.

Claims (31)

1 . A system comprising:

an interface configured to receive a security key from a remote server, the security key corresponding to a vehicle, the security key generated by transmitting object identification information captured by a device in close proximity to the vehicle, the object identification information transmitted to a remote server; and

a processor operable to generate a watermark using the security key to apply to a multi-view interactive digital media representation (MVIDMR), the MVIDMR including a plurality of images of the vehicle captured from a plurality of viewpoints corresponding to movement of a capture device around the vehicle, wherein the MVIDMR is navigable in multiple dimensions;

wherein the remote server verifies that the device is located where the vehicle is supposed to be located and that the MVIDMR is generated in a time period between when the security key is sent by the remote server and the time when the MVIDMR is received by the remote server.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein:

inertial measurement unit (IMU) data is captured from an IMU located in the capture device.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the capture device is a camera.

4 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the IMU includes one or more accelerometers, and wherein the IMU data includes information characterizing acceleration of the capture device through space during various periods of time.

5 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the MVIDMR is generated using the IMU data.

6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein generating the MVIDMR comprises positioning the images with respect to each other using the IMU data.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the interface is further operable to transmit geolocation information to the remote server.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the movement of the capture device around the vehicle comprises an arc around the vehicle.

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein generating the MVIDMR includes identifying a plurality of key points associated with the vehicle, determining respective locations for the plurality of key points in a first image and a second image, and aligning the first image and the second image using the plurality of key points.

10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the object identification information comprises a vehicle identification number (VIN).

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein transmitting the object identification information comprises transmitting a VIN image corresponding to a VIN plate on a vehicle dashboard.

12 . A method comprising:

receiving a security key from a remote server, the security key corresponding to a vehicle, the security key generated by transmitting object identification information captured by a device in close proximity to the vehicle, the object identification information transmitted to a remote server; and

generating a watermark using the security key to apply to a multi-view interactive digital media representation (MVIDMR), the MVIDMR including a plurality of images of the vehicle captured from a plurality of viewpoints corresponding to movement of a capture device around the vehicle, wherein the MVIDMR is navigable in multiple dimensions;

wherein the remote server verifies that the device is located where the vehicle is supposed to be located and that the MVIDMR is generated in a time period between when the security key is sent by the remote server and the time when the MVIDMR is received by the remote server.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein:

inertial measurement unit (IMU) data is captured from an IMU located in the capture device.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the capture device is a camera.

15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the IMU includes one or more accelerometers, and wherein the IMU data includes information characterizing acceleration of the capture device through space during various periods of time.

16 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the MVIDMR is generated using the IMU data.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein generating the MVIDMR comprises positioning the images with respect to each other using the IMU data.

18 . The method of claim 12 , wherein geolocation information is transmitted to the remote server.

19 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the movement of the capture device around the vehicle comprises an arc around the vehicle.

20 . A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising:

computer code for receiving a security key from a remote server, the security key corresponding to a vehicle, the security key generated by transmitting object identification information captured by a device in close proximity to the vehicle, the object identification information transmitted to a remote server; and

computer code for generating a watermark using the security key to apply to a multi-view interactive digital media representation (MVIDMR), the MVIDMR including a plurality of images of the vehicle captured from a plurality of viewpoints corresponding to movement of a capture device around the vehicle, wherein the MVIDMR is navigable in multiple dimensions;

wherein the remote server verifies that the device is located where the vehicle is supposed to be located and that the MVIDMR is generated in a time period between when the security key is sent by the remote server and the time when the MVIDMR is received by the remote server.
