PORTABLE CONTAINMENT STRUCTURE FOR SHIP PRESERVATION
A portable containment structure can include a cover, one or more trusses, and one or more connectors. The connectors can couple the containment structure to a ship. The connector can include a receiver portion, a strut portion, and a base portion. The receiver portion can be configured to receive a portion of a first side portion, second side portion, or third side portion of the containment structure. The strut portion can be configured to raise the containment structure vertically from the flight deck. The base portion can be configured to couple the connector to a raised plate on ship.
1 . A portable containment structure for a ship flight deck, the containment structure comprising:
a plurality of trusses, wherein each truss of the plurality of trusses comprises a first end portion, a second end portion, and a support portion extending from the first end portion to the second end portion;
a first side portion comprising the first end portions of each truss of the plurality of trusses;
a second side portion comprising the second end portions of each truss of the plurality of trusses; and
one or more connectors disposed along the first side portion and the second side portion, each connector of the one or more connectors comprising:
a receiver element, coupled to one of the first side portion or the second side portion;
a base plate coupled to the receiver element and comprising a first side and a second side; and
a coupling element configured to releasably couple the base plate to the ship.
2 . The containment structure of claim 1 , the coupling element further comprises one or more first coupling portions disposed on the first side of the base plate and one or more second coupling portions disposed on the second side of the base plate.
3 . The containment structure of claim 2 , wherein the one or more first coupling portions are coupled to the one or more second coupling portions.
4 . The containment structure of claim 2 , wherein the one or more second coupling portions are configured to be disposed on either side of a raised plate on the ship flight deck.
5 . The containment structure of claim 2 , wherein the coupling element comprises two first coupling portions and two second coupling portions.
6 . The containment structure of claim 2 , wherein the one or more first coupling portions are coupled to the one or more second coupling portions by one or more bolts.
7 . The containment structure of claim 1 , further comprising one or more struts extending between the receiver element and the base plate.
8 . The containment structure of claim 1 , further comprising a third side portion wherein connectors of the one or more connectors are disposed along the third side portion.
9 . The containment structure of claim 7 , wherein the one or more struts comprises two struts and the two structs are adjacent to one another where they are coupled to the base plate and are offset from one another where they are coupled to the receiver element.
10 . The containment structure of claim 1 , further comprising a cover disposed on the support portion of each truss of the plurality of trusses and extending from the first side portion to the second side portion.
11 . The containment structure of claim 1 , further comprising one or more straps extending from the support portion to the flight deck, wherein the one or more straps are configured to couple the containment structure to the flight deck.
12 . A connector for a portable containment structure for a ship flight deck, the connector comprising:
a receiver element, configured to be coupled to the containment structure; and
a base plate coupled to the receiver element and comprising a first side and a second side;
one or more first coupling portions disposed on the first side of the base plate; and
one or more second coupling portions disposed on the second side of the base plate,
wherein the one or more first coupling portions and the one or more second coupling portions are configured to releasably couple the base plate to the ship.
13 . The connector of claim 12 , wherein the one or more first coupling portions coupled to the one or more second coupling portions.
14 . The connector of claim 12 , wherein the one or more second coupling portions comprises two second coupling portions which are configured to be disposed on either side of a raised plate on the ship flight deck.
15 . The connector of claim 12 , wherein each of the second coupling portions comprises an L shaped cross section.
16 . The connector of claim 12 , wherein the one or more first coupling portions are coupled to the one or more second coupling portions by one or more bolts.
17 . The connector of claim 12 , further comprising one or more struts extending between the receiver element and the base plate.
18 . A method of installing a portable containment structure on a flight deck of a ship, the method comprising:
delivering the portable containment structure to the flight deck of the ship using a crane; and
coupling the portable containment structure to the flight deck using one or more connectors.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein each of one or more connectors comprises a base plate comprising a first side and a second side, two first coupling portions disposed on the first side of the base plate, and two second coupling portions disposed on the second side of the base plate and coupling the portable containment structure to the flight deck comprises coupling each of the first coupling portions to each of the two second coupling portions.
20 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising coupling the containment structure to the flight deck using one or more straps extending from the portable containment structure to the flight deck.
