Abstract

In one aspect, a computer system for vehicle configuration verification, and/or detecting unauthorized vehicle modification may be provided. In some exemplary embodiments, the computer system may include a processor and a non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations including: (1) receiving a vehicle image, including a vehicle identifier and at least one software module; (2) calculating a configuration hash value of the at least one software module; generating a first data block including the configuration hash value, a first index value, the vehicle identifier, and a digital signature; (3) storing the first data block in a memory; and/or (4) transmitting the first data block to any number of network participants using a distributed network to facilitate vehicle software configuration verification.

Claims (37)

1 . A computer system for creating trusted cryptographic hash values for verifying a configuration of a vehicle software of a vehicle, the computer system comprising:

a remote backend computing system including at least one processor; and

a non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

receive a vehicle data file including a vehicle identifier associated with the vehicle and a validation indicator indicating that the vehicle software has been validated;

generate a first data block including a configuration hash value of the vehicle identifier and the validation indicator;

append the validation indicator to the first data block;

store the first data block in a memory; and

transmit the first data block to any number of network participants using a distributed network, wherein the any number of network participants validate the validation indicator of the first data block before storing the first data block.

2 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the validation indicator includes a digital signature.

3 . The computer system of claim 2 , wherein the digital signature is configured to determine whether the vehicle software has been validated.

4 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle software is validated against one or more safety and compliance standards.

5 . The computer system of claim 1 , the vehicle data file further includes a trusted software version identifier for identifying a version of a software stored on the vehicle.

6 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the any number of network participants validate the validation indicator to verify the authenticity of the first data block.

7 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the remote backend computing system remote from the vehicle.

8 . A computer-implemented method for creating trusted cryptographic hash values for verifying a configuration of a vehicle software of a vehicle using a computing system including a remote backend computing system that includes one or more processors, the method comprising:

receiving a vehicle data file including a vehicle identifier associated with the vehicle and a validation indicator indicating that the vehicle software has been validated;

generating a first data block including a configuration hash value of the vehicle identifier and the validation indicator;

appending the validation indicator to the first data block;

storing the first data block in a memory; and

transmitting the first data block to any number of network participants using a distributed network, wherein the any number of network participants validate the validation indicator of the first data block before storing the first data block.

9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the validation indicator includes a digital signature.

10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , wherein the digital signature is configured to determine whether the vehicle software has been validated.

11 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the vehicle software is validated against one or more safety and compliance standards.

12 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , the vehicle data file further includes a trusted software version identifier for identifying a version of a software stored on the vehicle.

13 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the any number of network participants validate the validation indicator to verify the authenticity of the first data block.

14 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the remote backend computing system remote from the vehicle.

15 . At least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon, wherein when executed by a computing system for creating trusted cryptographic hash values for verifying a configuration of a vehicle software of a vehicle, the computing system including a remote backend computing system that includes at least one processor coupled to a memory device, the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to:

receive a vehicle data file including a vehicle identifier associated with the vehicle and a validation indicator indicating that the vehicle software has been validated;

generate a first data block including a configuration hash value of the vehicle identifier and the validation indicator;

append the validation indicator to the first data block;

store the first data block in a memory; and

transmit the first data block to any number of network participants using a distributed network, wherein the any number of network participants validate the validation indicator of the first data block before storing the first data block.

16 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the validation indicator includes a digital signature.

17 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the vehicle software is validated against one or more safety and compliance standards.

18 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , the vehicle data file further includes a trusted software version identifier for identifying a version of a software stored on the vehicle.

19 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the any number of network participants validate the validation indicator to verify the authenticity of the first data block.

20 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the remote backend computing system remote from the vehicle.
