CONTAINER, CLOSURE, AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE
In some embodiments, apparatuses and methods provided herein are useful for dispensing a fluid from a bottle that includes a closure cap with a flip-top lid, a base, and a tamper evident structure configured to indicate whether the closure cap has been previously opened. In some configurations, an area of the closure cap that a user manually leverages to open the cap includes a recess.
1 . A closure cap comprising:
a base;
a flip-top lid hingedly connected to the base, the flip-top lid being movable between an open position and a closed position, the flip-top lid and the base together forming a recess in an outer wall of the closure cap when the flip-top lid is in the closed position, the recess forming a grasping area permitting a user to apply a force to move the flip-top lid from the closed position to the open position;
a first tab on the flip-top lid and a second tab on the base, wherein the first and second tabs are aligned with one another when the flip-top lid is in the closed position; and
a first welded connection between the first and second tabs;
wherein the first and second tabs are disposed on a first side of the recess, the first welded connection securely connecting the flip-top lid and the base in an initial closed position and configured to break upon the flip-top lid being moved from the initial closed position to the open position.
2 . The closure cap of claim 1 wherein the first welded connection is dot welded.
3 . The closure cap of claim 1 further comprising a third tab disposed on the flip-top lid and a fourth tab disposed on the base, wherein the third and fourth tabs are aligned with one another and a second welded connection between the third and fourth tabs, wherein the third and fourth tabs are disposed on a second side of the recess, wherein the second welded connection connects the flip-top lid and the base in the initial closed position and is configured to break upon the flip-top lid is moved from the initial closed position to the open position.
4 . The closure cap of claim 1 further comprising a sidewall of the closure cap including a first indented portion to dispose the first welded connection.
5 . The closure cap of claim 4 wherein the sidewall of the closure cap further includes a second indented portion to dispose a second welded connection.
6 . The closure cap of claim 1 wherein the first tab and the second tab include a narrowed portion therebetween.

a base;
a flip-top lid hingedly connected to the base, the flip-top lid being movable between an open position and a closed position, the flip-top lid and the base together forming a recess in an outer wall of the closure cap when the flip-top lid is in the closed position, the recess forming a grasping area permitting a user to apply a force to move the flip-top lid from the closed position to the open position;
a first extension tab, near a first side of the recess, fixed to the base; and
a first breakable member connecting the first extension tab to the flip-top lid, wherein the first breakable member is configured to break upon the flip-top lid being moved from the closed position to the open position,
wherein the first extension tab is connected to the flip-top lid in an initial closed position via the first breakable member and wherein the first extension tab and the flip-top lid are disconnected upon the flip-top lid being moved from the initial closed position to the open position.
11 . The closure cap of claim 10 wherein the first extension tab comprises a flange connected to the flip-top lid via the first breakable member in a closed configuration prior to initial opening of the closure cap and a latching projection extending from the flange wherein the first breakable member comprises one or more narrow bridges of material between the first extension tab and a remainder of the flip-top lid.
12 . The closure cap of claim 11 wherein a circumferential side of the base includes a circumferential ledge such that the base has an indented sidewall near a top surface of the base that is indented from an sidewall of the closure cap, and wherein the flange of the first extension tab is disposed on the top surface of the circumferential ledge.
13 . The closure cap of claim 12 wherein the indented sidewall has an indented portion to dispose the flange of the first extension tab.
14 . The closure cap of claim 12 wherein a sidewall of the circumferential ledge has an indented portion to dispose the flange of the first extension tab.
15 . The closure cap of claim 12 wherein the latching projection comprises an arrowhead-shaped barb.
16 . The closure cap of claim 12 wherein the latching projection comprises a hemisphere-shaped barb.
17 . The closure cap of claim 12 wherein a portion of the latching projection is inserted into the base through a receiving opening in an upper or side wall of the circumferential ledge, and an inserted portion of the latching projection engages with the upper or side wall of the circumferential ledge.
18 . The closure cap of claim 17 wherein an upper wall of the circumferential ledge has the receiving opening.
19 . The closure cap of claim 17 wherein a sidewall of the circumferential ledge has the receiving opening.
20 . The closure cap of claim 10 further comprising a second extension tab, near a second side of the recess, fixed to the base, and a second breakable member configured to break upon the flip-top lid is moved from the closed position to the open position, wherein the second extension tab is connected to the flip-top lid in the initial closed position via the second breakable member and wherein the second extension tab and the flip-top lid are disconnected upon the flip-top lid being moved from the initial closed position to the open position.
