wherein an electronic communications circuitry is configured to provide a plurality of wireless electronic communication modalities for electronic transfer communication of the output signal to at least one user device from the plurality of external devices and where the processor is configured to automatically transmit the directed output signal to the at least one previously assigned device.

2 . The interface system of claim 1 , wherein the processor and the electronic communications circuitry are located in a signal control unit having a housing structure.

3 . The interface system of claim 2 , wherein the signal control unit includes a power supply.

4 . The interface system of claim 2 , wherein the housing structure is physically separate from the neural interface device and the housing structure is configured to be portable.

5 . The interface system of claim 2 , wherein at least one of the plurality of wireless electronic communication modalities comprises a security communication modality and where only a subset of the plurality of external devices include the security communication modality.

6 . The interface system of claim 5 , wherein the neural interface device includes a transmitter/receiver component, where the transmitter/receiver component and the signal control unit are configured to use the security communication modality to communicate the electronic signal representative of the brain signal.

7 . The interface system of claim 2 , wherein a subset of the plurality of external devices includes a host device and/or an administrator device.

8 . The interface system of claim 7 , wherein the signal control unit is configured for wirelessly coupling to a host device having one or more applications that control at least one of the plurality of external devices.

9 . The interface system of claim 2 , wherein the signal control unit is configured to communicate the output signal with one of the plurality of external devices at a time.

10 . The interface system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to prevent transmitting the directed output signal based on a condition of the at least one user device.

11 . The interface system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to prevent transmitting the directed output signal based on a condition of the individual.

12 . The interface system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to prevent transmitting the directed output signal based on a decision of the individual.

13 . The interface system of claim 1 , wherein at least two wireless electronic communication modalities are different and wherein the electronic communications circuitry is also configured for electronic exchange of a device data with one or more of the plurality of external devices, where the device data is generated by at least one of the plurality of external devices.

14 . A method of operatively interfacing an individual with a plurality of external devices wherein the plurality of external devices includes at least one user device and at least one previously assigned device, the method comprising:

detecting a brain signal from the individual using a neural interface device having an electrode component, where the neural interface device is configured to produce an electronic signal representative of the brain signal;

transmitting the electronic signal to a processor in a signal control unit;

processing the electronic signal, by the processor, where the processor is configured to apply one or more algorithms to decode the electronic signal;

producing an output signal upon determining that the electronic signal is representative of an intentional neural brain signal generated by the individual and determining if the output signal is a directed output signal that was previously configured to interact with the at least one previously assigned device; and

automatically transmitting the directed output signal to the at least one previously assigned device upon determining the output signal is the directed output signal and transmitting the output signal to one or more of the plurality of external devices upon failing to determine the output signal is the directed output signal.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the signal control unit comprises a housing structure that is physically separate from the neural interface device and is configured to be portable.

16 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising providing the individual with feedback that the directed output signal was produced or transmitted to the at least one previously assigned device.

17 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising automatically transmitting the directed output signal based on a condition of the at least one user device.

18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the condition is whether the individual is interacting with the at least one user device to prevent inadvertent triggering of the at least one previously assigned device.

19 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the condition is when the individual is not interacting with the at least one user device.

20 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising automatically transmitting the directed output signal based on a condition of the individual.

21 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising automatically transmitting the directed output signal based on a decision of the individual.

22 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising electronically exchanging a device data with one or more of the plurality of external devices using the signal control unit, where the device data is generated by at least one of the plurality of external devices, where the signal control unit is configured to select a plurality of separate communication modalities based on which of the plurality of external devices is connected to the signal control unit.

23 . The method of claim 22 , further comprising electronically exchanging the device data with one or more of the plurality of external devices using the signal control unit, where the device data is generated by at least one of the plurality of external devices.

24 . The method of claim 22 , wherein transmitting the output signal to one or more external devices using the signal control unit comprises transmitting the output signal to one of one or more external devices at a time.

25 . The method of claim 22 , where the signal control unit is configured to electrically disconnect one or more of the plurality of separate communication modalities to preserve a power level of the signal control unit.

26 . A method of increasing an autonomy of an individual to operate one or more external electronic devices, the method comprising:

providing a brain-computer interface configured to monitor a plurality of brain signals of the individual where the brain-computer interface comprises a neural monitoring device operatively connected to a signal control unit to transmit a plurality of electronic signals representative of the plurality of brain signals, where the signal control unit is configured to produce an output signal upon determining that at least one electronic signal of the plurality of electronic signals is representative of an intentional neural brain signal generated by the individual; and

where the brain-computer interface is configured to have an unlock mode and a lock mode wherein in the lock mode the signal control unit acts on only a subset of the plurality of brain signals as compared to the unlock mode to prevent inadvertent activation of the one or more external electronic devices.

27 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the signal control unit is configured to enter the lock mode and/or the unlock mode upon receiving an activation signal from the individual.

28 . The method of claim 27 , where receiving the activation signal from the individual to switch the brain-computer interface to the unlock mode from the lock mode occurs without assistance from a caregiver.
