Abstract

The systems, methods and apparatuses described herein provide a virtual integrated circuit card (ICC). In one aspect, a method of creating a virtual ICC may be provided. The method may comprise obtaining executable code configured to run on a user device to facilitate financial transactions, preparing a first encryption key usable by the executable code, receiving a second encryption key associated with the user device, forming a virtual ICC comprising the executable code and the first encryption key, and encrypting the virtual ICC with the second encryption key. In another aspect, a virtual ICC may be embodied on a non-transitory computer-readable medium. The virtual ICC may comprise executable code configured to run on a user device to facilitate financial transactions and a first encryption key usable by the executable code. The virtual ICC may be encrypted using a second encryption key associated with the user device.

Claims (31)

1 . An electronic device for securely storing and providing information, the electronic device configured to comprise:

a non-secure zone;

a secure zone including a supervisor, a secure processor, one or more instruction memories and one or more data memories; and

an interface communicatively coupling the secure zone and the non-secure zone, wherein the secure zone is configured to:

receive information pertaining to code that is executable on the secure processor within the secure zone via the interface,

determine whether requirements are fulfilled for the code,

if the requirements are fulfilled, load the code into the one or more instruction memories located within the secure zone,

clear and/or pre-fill the one or more data memories located within the secure zone, and

cause the secure processor to execute the code that has been loaded into the one or more instruction memories located within the secure zone.

2 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the secure zone further includes one or more cryptographic engines configured to implement one or more cryptographic algorithms.

3 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the secure zone is further configured to control one or more indicators that are used to indicate security modes of the electronic device.

4 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the secure zone is further configured to control one or more peripherals within the electronic device.

5 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the secure zone is further configured to provide visual feedback to a user regarding an origin of the loaded code.

6 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the supervisor is configured to control access to components of the secure zone.

7 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the supervisor is configured to enforce operational rules of the secure zone so as to provide security assurances to a user.

8 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the non-secure zone comprises an operating system and one or more applications.

9 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the non-secure zone is configured to provide one or more of messages, codes or tasks to the secure zone.

10 . A method for securely storing and providing information using an electronic device, comprising (i) a non-secure zone, (ii) a secure zone including a supervisor, a secure processor, one or more instruction memories and one or more data memories, and (iii) an interface communicatively coupling the secure zone and the non-secure zone, the method comprising:

receiving, by the secure zone, information pertaining to code that is executable on one or more secure processors within the secure zone via the interface;

determining, by the secure zone, whether requirements are fulfilled for the code;

if the requirements are fulfilled, loading, by the secure zone, the code into the one or more instruction memories located within the secure zone;

clearing and/or pre-filling, by the secure zone, the one or more data memories located within the secure zone; and

causing, by the secure zone, the secure processor to execute the code that has been loaded into the one or more instruction memories located within the secure zone.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the secure zone further includes one or more cryptographic engines configured to implement one or more cryptographic algorithms.

12 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising controlling one or more indicators that are used to indicate security modes of the electronic device.

13 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising controlling one or more peripherals within the electronic device.

14 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising providing visual feedback to a user regarding an origin of the loaded code.

15 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising controlling access to components of the secure zone.

16 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising enforcing operational rules of the secure zone so as to provide security assurances to a user.

17 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the non-secure zone comprises an operating system and one or more applications.

18 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the non-secure zone is configured to provide one or more of messages, codes or tasks to the secure zone.
