Abstract

Provided herein is technology relating to medical imaging and radiation therapy and particularly, but not exclusively, to devices, methods, and systems for positioning a patient with respect to a radiation source to image the patient and/or to treat the patient by exposing the patient to a radiation beam produced by the radiation source.

65 . A patient support comprising a seat, a back rest, a shin rest, and a heel stop.

66 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the patient support is configured to support a patient in an upright position.

67 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the patient support is configured to support a patient in a standing, a sitting, a kneeling, or a perched position.

68 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the patient support is configurable between a first configuration to support a patient in a substantially seated position to a second configuration to support a patient in a substantially standing position.

69 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the seat is horizontal and configured to contact a patient's buttocks.

70 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the seat is inclined downward and is configured to contact a patient's thighs.

71 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the back rest is configured to contact a patient back, the shin rest is configured to contact one or both of a patient shin(s), and the heel stop is configured to contact one or both of a patient heel(s).

72 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the patient support is configured to rotate around a vertical axis.

73 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the shin rest is horizontally translatable.

74 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the heel stop is horizontally translatable.

75 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the patient support is vertically and/or horizontally translatable.

76 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the patient support is tiltable.

77 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the patient support is configured to support a patient in an upright position and with a patient torso tilted at an angle with respect to a vertical axis.

78 . The patient support of claim 77 , wherein the patient torso is tilted at an angle of approximately 0 to 20°.

79 . The patient support of claim 65 , configured in a patient ingress state, a patient egress state, a patient pre-egress state, or a patient standby state.

80 . The patient support of claim 65 , further comprising arm rests.

81 . The patient support of claim 65 , further comprising a head rest.

82 . The patient support of claim 65 , further comprising a fluid control cassette.

83 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the seat is configured to rotate around a non-metallic axle between a first position extending outwardly from the back rest to a second position positioned downward.

84 . The patient support of claim 65 , wherein the back rest is removable.
