PET INSURANCE SYSTEM AND METHOD
This disclosure relates to a system and method implemented to facilitate real-time medical coverage for veterinary hospitals. More specifically, the disclosure as a pet medical insurance system pet medical insurance claims system comprising: a backend component implemented on a computer, the backend component comprising a services component; a plug-and-play data integration system connected to a first practice management system in a veterinary practice and the backend component. The plug-and-play data integration system receives data from the first practice management system and maps the data according to the backend system, thereby limiting the data traffic between the backend component and the first practice management system. The plug-and-play data integration system is integratable with a second or more different practice management systems for receiving data that is different from the data from the first practice management system.

21 . A pet medical insurance system, comprising:
a backend component implemented on a computer, the backend component comprising a services component that is configured to be coupled to and communicate with a pet insurance component in each veterinary practice over a communication path, wherein the services component receives, from the pet insurance component over the communication path, one or more pieces of data about the one or more treatments and procedures for a particular patient by a veterinarian practice;
the backend component further comprising an enrollment processing component and claim processing component, the enrollment processing component configured to receive a request for insurance coverage for a particular patient and issue an insurance offer to an owner of that particular patient;
the claim processing component configured to process a claim for one or more treatments and procedures for the particular patient and pay an amount directly to the veterinary practice; and
wherein the claim processing component rapidly processes the claim so that the veterinary practice is informed of the claim outcome paid quickly.
22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the backend component further comprises a user interface component that is configured to generate a user interface containing information about the particular animal for the veterinary practice.
23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the backend component further comprises one or more databases that store one or more pieces of data about one or more of treatments and procedures for the particular animal by the veterinarian or an employee of the veterinary practice.
24 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the user interface component is configured to generate an insurance claim form.
25 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the backend component further comprises one or more computing resources that host the backend component.
26 . The system of claim 25 , wherein one or more computing resources further comprise a processor and wherein the backend component further comprises a plurality of lines of computer code that are executed by the processor.
27 . The system of claim 25 , wherein each of the one or more computing resources is one of a server computer and/or cloud computing resource(s).
28 . A method of providing pet medical insurance using a backend component implemented on a computer, comprising:
receiving, by a services component of the backend component, for each veterinary practice, one of more pieces of data about one of a treatment and procedure for a particular animal; and
enrolling, by an enrollment processing component, an owner of the animal for pet medical insurance for the animal upon receipt of a request for the insurance of the particular animal and issuing an insurance offer for the particular animal; and
processing, using a claims processing component of the backend component, a claim for one of the treatment(s) and the procedure(s) for the particular animal, wherein the claim processing component rapidly processes the claim and pays the veterinary practice directly, where applicable.
29 . The method of claim 28 further comprising generating a user interface containing information about the particular animal.
30 . The method of claim 28 further comprising storing the one or more pieces of data about the treatment and procedure for the particular animal.
31 . The method of claim 29 further comprising generating an insurance claim form.
32 . The method of claim 28 , wherein enrolling the owner of the animal further comprises activating the offer for insurance coverage.
33 . A pet insurance system, comprising:
a veterinary practice system have a pet insurance component;
a backend component implemented on a computer, the backend component comprising a services component that is configured to be coupled to and communicate with the pet insurance component in each veterinary practice over a communications path, wherein the services component receives, from the pet insurance component over the communications path, one or more pieces of data about one of a treatment and a procedure for a particular animal by a particular veterinary practice; and the backend component further comprising an enrollment processing component and a claim processing component, the enrollment processing component configured to receive a request for the particular animal and issue an insurance offer to an owner of the particular animal for insurance for the animal and the claim processing component configured to process a claim for the treatment(s) and the procedure(s) for the particular animal and pay an approved claim amount to the veterinary practice; and
wherein, the claim processing component rapidly processes the claim so that the veterinarian is paid quickly.
34 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the backend component further comprises a user interface component that is configured to generate a user interface containing information about the particular animal for the veterinary practice.
35 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the backend component is configured to generate an insurance claim form.
36 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the user interface component is configured to generate an insurance claim form.
37 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the backend component further comprises a processor and wherein the backend component further comprises a plurality of lines of code that are executed by the processor.
38 . The system of claim 37 , wherein each of the one or more computing resources is one of a server computer and/or cloud computing resource(s).
39 . The system of claim 37 , wherein each of the one or more computing resources is one of a server and/or cloud computing resource(s).
40 . The system of claim 33 , further comprising one or more computing devices wherein each computing device is configured to allow the owner of the particular animal to activate insurance coverage.
