Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive configuration information identifying an association between a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state and a transmit receive point (TRP). The UE may identify a beam failure associated with the TRP. The UE may communicate with one or more network devices to reset a beam associated with the beam failure, for the TCI state, based at least in part on the association between the TCI and the TRP. Numerous other aspects are described.

Claims (52)

1 . A user equipment (UE) for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

one or more processors, coupled to the memory, configured to:

identify a beam failure of a beam associated with a network device of one or more network devices based on a determination that a link quality metric of a reference signal associated with the network device does not satisfy a threshold; and

communicate with the one or more network devices to apply a reset beam to one or more reference signals sharing a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state associated with the reference signal without resetting other beams associated with the network device.

2 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein, to communicate with the one or more network devices to apply the reset beam, the one or more processors are further configured to:

reset quasi-co-location (QCL) parameters to one or more QCL parameters for a selected new reference signal.

3 . The UE of claim 2 , wherein to communicate with the one or more network devices to apply the reset beam, the one or more processors are further configured to:

apply a spatial filter to one or more channels or reference signals associated with the TCI state, wherein the spatial filter is a same spatial filter that is used for a last physical random access channel (PRACH) transmission.

4 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein, to communicate with the one or more network devices to apply the reset beam, the one or more processors are further configured to:

reset quasi-co-location (QCL) parameters to one or more QCL parameters for a reported/new reference signal.

5 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

receive a single downlink control information including a TCI codepoint identifying a set of TCI states associated with a set of transmit receive points (TRPs); and

associate the TCI state with the set of TRPs based at least in part on an order of the set of TCI states and an order of the set of TRPs.

6 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein, to communicate with the one or more network devices to apply the reset beam, the one or more processors are configured to:

receive a beam failure recovery response (BFRR); and

reset the beam a threshold period of time after receiving the BFRR.

7 . The UE of claim 6 , wherein the threshold period of time is based at least in part on a subcarrier spacing of at least one of:

a network device or component carrier to which to send a beam failure recovery response,

a network device or component carrier from which to receive the BFRR,

a network device or component carrier to which to apply a beam reset, or

a network device or component carrier for which the beam failure occurred.

8 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein a separate downlink TCI and uplink TCI are activated, and wherein the reset beam is applied to one or more channels or reference signals of the downlink TCI only.

9 . The UE of claim 1 , wherein a separate downlink TCI and uplink TCI are activated, and wherein the reset beam is applied to one or more channels or reference signals of the downlink TCI and one or more channels or reference signals of the uplink TCI.

10 . A network device for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

one or more processors, coupled to the memory, configured to:

communicate with a user equipment (UE) to apply a reset beam to one or more reference signals sharing a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state associated with a reference signal associated with the network device, without resetting other beams associated with the network device.

11 . The network device of claim 10 , wherein the one or more processors, to communicate with the UE to apply the reset beam, are configured to:

transmit a beam failure recovery response (BFRR), wherein the beam is reset a threshold period of time after transmitting the BFRR.

12 . The network device of claim 10 , wherein a beam reset applies to a fixed subset of a set of channels or reference signals associated with the TCI state.

13 . The network device of claim 10 , wherein a separate downlink TCI and uplink TCI are activated, and wherein a reset beam is applied to one or more channels or reference signals of the downlink TCI only.

14 . A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE), comprising:

identifying a beam failure of a beam associated with a network device of one or more network devices based on a determination that a link quality metric of a reference signal associated with the network device does not satisfy a threshold; and

communicating with the one or more network devices to apply a reset beam to one or more reference signals sharing a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state associated with the reference signal without resetting other beams associated with the network device.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein communicating with the one or more network devices to apply the reset beam comprises:

resetting quasi-co-location (QCL) parameters to one or more QCL parameters for a selected new reference signal.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein communicating with the one or more network devices to apply the reset beam further comprises:

applying a spatial filter to one or more channels or reference signals associated with the TCI state, wherein the spatial filter is a same spatial filter that is used for a last physical random access channel (PRACH) transmission.

17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein communicating with the one or more network devices to apply the reset beam comprises:

resetting quasi-co-location (QCL) parameters to one or more QCL parameters for a reported/new reference signal.

18 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

receiving a single downlink control information including a TCI codepoint identifying a set of TCI states associated with a set of transmit receive points (TRPs); and

associating the TCI state with the set of TRPs based at least in part on an order of the set of TCI states and an order of the set of TRPs.

19 . The method of claim 14 , wherein communicating with the one or more network devices to apply the reset beam comprises:

receiving a beam failure recovery response (BFRR); and

resetting the beam a threshold period of time after receiving the BFRR.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the threshold period of time is based at least in part on a subcarrier spacing of at least one of:

a network device or component carrier to which to send a beam failure recovery response,

a network device or component carrier from which to receive the BFRR,

a network device or component carrier to which to apply a beam reset, or

a network device or component carrier for which the beam failure occurred.
