Abstract

The present invention is directed to a composition for the protection against corrosion of an article, wherein the corrosion protecting composition comprises: (i) an amorphous polymer composition comprising one or more polyisobutenes each having a glass transition temperature of −40° C. or less as determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC); (ii) one or more butyl rubbers; (iii) one or more antioxidants; and (iv) one or more filler materials, wherein the one or more polyisobutenes are independently selected from the group consisting of low-molecular weight polyisobutenes (LMW PIB) having an average molecular weight Mv in the range of about 500 to about 20,000, and mid-molecular weight polyisobutenes (MMW PIB) having an average molecular weight Mv in the range of about 20,000 to about 120,000.
