Abstract

Transgenic INIR6 maize plants comprising modifications of the DP-4114 maize locus which provide for facile excision of the modified DP-4114 transgenic locus or portions thereof, methods of making such plants, and use of such plants to facilitate breeding are disclosed.

Claims (20)

. A transgenic maize plant cell comprising a modified transgenic locus comprising a deletion of one or more elements of an original transgenic locus; wherein the deletion comprises a deletion of part or all of a phosphinothricin acetyltransferase (PAT) selectable marker cassette and a 3′ junction polynucleotide, wherein the original transgenic locus is a DP-4114 transgenic locus set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1; and wherein the modified transgenic locus comprises SEQ ID NO: 36-41 or an allelic variant thereof.

. The transgenic maize plant cell of claim 1 , wherein the modified transgenic locus is SEQ ID NO: 36 or an allelic variant thereof.

. The transgenic maize plant cell of claim 1 , wherein the modified transgenic locus is SEQ ID NO: 37 or an allelic variant thereof.

. The transgenic maize plant cell of claim 1 , wherein the modified transgenic locus is SEQ ID NO: 38 or an allelic variant thereof.

. The transgenic maize plant cell of claim 1 , wherein the modified transgenic locus is SEQ ID NO: 39 or an allelic variant thereof.

. The transgenic maize plant cell of claim 1 , wherein the modified transgenic locus is SEQ ID NO: 40 or an allelic variant thereof.

. The transgenic maize plant cell of claim 1 , wherein the modified transgenic locus is SEQ ID NO: 41 or an allelic variant thereof.

. The transgenic maize plant cell of claim 1 , wherein the deletion comprises a deletion of part of the 3′ junction polynucleotide.

. The transgenic maize plant cell of claim 8 , wherein the deletion of part of the 3′ junction polynucleotide comprises between about 8 to about 1000 base pairs of endogenous chromosomal DNA of the plant genome.

. The transgenic maize plant cell of claim 9 , wherein the deletion of part of the 3′ junction polynucleotide comprises between about 10 to 100 base pairs of endogenous chromosomal DNA of the plant genome.

. A DNA molecule comprising any one of SEQ ID NO: 36-41.

. A biological sample containing the DNA molecule of claim 11 .

. A nucleic acid molecule adapted for detection of genomic DNA comprising the DNA molecule of claim 11 , wherein the nucleic acid molecule optionally comprises a detectable label.

. A processed transgenic maize plant product comprising: the DNA molecule of claim 11 or the transgenic maize plant cell of claim 1 .

. A method of detecting a DNA molecule, wherein the DNA molecule comprises any one of SEQ ID NO: 36-41.

. The method of claim 15 , wherein the method comprises detecting a unique transgenic locus excision site in the processed transgenic maize plant product.

. The method of claim 16 , wherein the unique transgenic locus excision site is set forth in any one of SEQ ID NO: 39-41.

. The method of claim 15 , wherein the DNA molecule is present in a biological sample.

. The method of claim 15 , wherein the DNA molecule is present in a processed transgenic maize plant product.

. A transgenic maize plant comprising the plant cell of claim 1 .
