Abstract

Provided herein are ammonium silanes, compositions, their formulations, including powdered and solid formulations, and methods of use to treat infections in humans and animals. The ammonium silanes and compositions described herein can also be used as a preservative, disinfectant, or in another anti-microbial use.

Claims (38)

1 . A topical formulation comprising:

i) an excipient of Formula A:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; and

ii) a compound of Formula B, selected from the group consisting of:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;

wherein:

each R is independently selected from the group consisting of OH and alkoxy;

G is hydrogen or alkyl;

R 2 is C 1 -C 6 alkyl;

R 3 is C 1 -C 6 alkyl;

X 1 is selected from the group consisting of a bond,

X 2 is selected from the group consisting of

Z is selected from the group consisting of —SO 3 H, —SO 3 − , and —SO 3 M;

A − is absent or a non-halogen anion;

M is a metal cation; and

n is selected from the group consisting of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18.

2 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein the excipient of Formula A is

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

3 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein the ratio of molecules of Formula A to molecules of Formula B is about 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.25, 2.5, 2.75, 3, 3.25, 3.5, 3.75, or 4 to 1.

4 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein the ratio of molecules of Formula A to molecules of Formula B is about 2 to 1.

7 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein n is 16, 17, or 18.

8 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein R 2 is methyl.

10 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein the topical formulation further comprises an additional additive or additives.

11 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein the additional additive is glycerin.

12 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein the additional additive is water.

13 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein the additional additive is poloxamer.

14 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein additional additive is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose.

15 . The topical formulation of claim 1 , wherein the compound of Formula B is:

16 . The topical formulation of claim 15 , wherein the excipient of Formula A is

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

17 . The topical formulation of claim 16 , wherein A − is

18 . A method of aiding the cleaning of teeth in a subject comprising applying the topical formulation of claim 1 to the teeth of the subject.

19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the subject is a human.

20 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the subject is a dog.

21 . The method of claim 18 , where the subject is a cat.
