Fencing Systems Including Reversible Slats

1 . A fencing system, comprising:

posts;

rails extending between the posts; and

a first slat and a second slat positioned in adjacent relation between the posts and the rails and defining axial lengths, wherein the first slat and the second slat each include:

a first end having a first configuration;

a second end having a second configuration different from the first configuration;

a closed side extending between the first end and the second end; and

an open side opposite to the closed side.

2 . The fencing system of claim 1 , wherein the first slat and the second slat are asymmetrical in configuration.

3 . The fencing system of claim 1 , wherein the first end and the second end are each configured for insertion into the rails to facilitate installation of the first slat and the second slat in generally horizontal orientations.

4 . The fencing system of claim 1 , wherein the first end and the second end are each configured for insertion into the posts to facilitate installation of the first slat and the second slat in generally vertical orientations.

5 . The fencing system of claim 1 , wherein the first end of the second slat is configured for insertion into the second end of the first slat.

6 . The fencing system of claim 5 , wherein the first end includes:

a first outer wall; and

prongs extending from the first outer wall in generally orthogonal relation thereto.

7 . The fencing system of claim 6 , wherein the second end includes a chamber such that, upon assembly of the fencing system, the prongs on the first end of the second slat are positioned within the chamber included on the second end of the first slat.

8 . The fencing system of claim 7 , wherein the second end includes:

a second outer wall;

brackets extending from the second outer wall and including generally L-shaped configurations; and

guides positioned between the brackets.

9 . The fencing system of claim 8 , wherein the prongs include detents such that, upon assembly of the fencing system, the detents included on the prongs of the second slat engage the brackets on the first slat.

10 . The fencing system of claim 9 , wherein the first slat and the second slat are configured such that, upon assembly of the fencing system, the brackets on the first slat are secured between the detents and the first outer wall on the second slat.

11 . A fencing system, comprising:

posts;

rails extending between the posts; and

slats positioned in adjacent relation between the posts and the rails, wherein the slats include:

first ends and second ends;

open sides extending between the first ends and the second ends; and

closed sides opposite to the open sides.

12 . The fencing system of claim 11 , wherein the slats are generally identical in configuration.

13 . The fencing system of claim 11 , wherein the second ends are configured to receive the first ends such that, upon assembly of the fencing system, the second end of a first slat receives the first end of a second slat.

14 . The fencing system of claim 11 , wherein the slats are positioned in uniform orientations such that the closed sides face in a common direction.

15 . The fencing system of claim 11 , wherein the slats are positioned in non-uniform orientations such that the closed sides face in opposite directions.

16 . A reversible slat for a fencing system, wherein the reversible slat includes:

a first end having a first configuration;

a second end having a second configuration different from the first configuration;

a closed side extending between the first end and the second end; and

an open side opposite to the closed side, wherein the reversible slat is asymmetrical about a reference axis extending in generally orthogonal relation to a length thereof.

17 . The reversible slat of claim 16 , wherein the first end includes:

a first outer wall; and

prongs extending from the first outer wall in generally orthogonal relation thereto and in generally parallel relation to the length.

18 . The reversible slat of claim 17 , wherein the first end further includes:

detents extending outwardly from the prongs.

19 . The reversible slat of claim 16 , wherein the second end includes:

a second outer wall;

brackets extending from the second outer wall;

a chamber defined between the brackets; and

guides positioned within the chamber.

20 . The reversible slat of claim 19 , wherein the brackets include:

first legs; and

second legs extending form the first legs in generally orthogonal relation.
