Delay status reporting
A wireless device transmits a delay status reporting (DSR) medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) indicating a data volume comprising a radio link control (RLC) data volume of an RLC data unit. The RLC data volume is based on: a discard timer, of a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) data unit associated with the RLC data unit, being running; and a remaining time value, of the discard timer, being less than a threshold.
1 . A method comprising:
determining, by a wireless device, that a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) data unit is a delay-critical PDCP data unit, based on:
a discard timer, of the PDCP data unit, being running; and
a remaining time value, of the discard timer, being less than a threshold;
determining that a radio link control (RLC) data unit is a delay-critical RLC data unit, based on:
the RLC data unit corresponding to the PDCP data unit; and
the PDCP data unit being the delay-critical PDCP data unit;
determining, based on the RLC data unit being the delay-critical RLC data unit, that an RLC data volume comprises an amount of the RLC data unit; and
transmitting, by the wireless device, a delay status reporting (DSR) medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) indicating a data volume comprising the RLC data volume of the delay-critical RLC data unit.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the wireless device comprises an RLC layer and a PDCP layer.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the RLC layer receives, from the PDCP layer, an indication for the PDCP data unit associated with the RLC data unit.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a remaining time of the discard timer before the transmitting.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the DSR MAC CE further indicates the remaining time.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving remaining time information, wherein the remaining time information indicates a shortest remaining time value of a discard timer of a PDCP data unit among one or more PDCP data units.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising determining the remaining time information at a time of a first symbol of a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission that includes the DSR MAC CE.
8 . A wireless device, comprising:
one or more processors; and
memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:
determine that a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) data unit is a delay-critical PDCP data unit, based on:
a discard timer, of the PDCP data unit, being running; and
a remaining time value, of the discard timer, being less than a threshold;
determine that a radio link control (RLC) data unit is a delay-critical RLC data unit, based on:
the RLC data unit corresponding to the PDCP data unit; and
the PDCP data unit being the delay-critical PDCP data unit;
determine, based on the RLC data unit being the delay-critical RLC data unit, that an RLC data volume comprises an amount of the RLC data unit; and
transmit a delay status reporting (DSR) medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) indicating a data volume comprising the RLC data volume of the delay-critical RLC data unit.
9 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein the wireless device comprises an RLC layer and a PDCP layer.
10 . The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the RLC layer receives, from the PDCP layer, an indication for the PDCP data unit associated with the RLC data unit.
11 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to determine a remaining time of the discard timer before the transmitting.
12 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the DSR MAC CE further indicates the remaining time.
13 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to receive remaining time information, wherein the remaining time information indicates a shortest remaining time value of a discard timer of a PDCP data unit among one or more PDCP data units.
14 . The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to determine the remaining time information at a time of a first symbol of a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission that includes the DSR MAC CE.
15 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a wireless device, cause the wireless device to:
determine that a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) data unit is a delay-critical PDCP data unit, based on:
a discard timer, of the PDCP data unit, being running; and
a remaining time value, of the discard timer, being less than a threshold;
determine that a radio link control (RLC) data unit is a delay-critical RLC data unit, based on:
the RLC data unit corresponding to the PDCP data unit; and
the PDCP data unit being the delay-critical PDCP data unit;
determine, based on the RLC data unit being the delay-critical RLC data unit, that an RLC data volume comprises an amount of the RLC data unit; and
transmit a delay status reporting (DSR) medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) indicating a data volume comprising the RLC data volume of the delay-critical RLC data unit.
16 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the wireless device comprises an RLC layer and a PDCP layer.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the RLC layer receives, from the PDCP layer, an indication for the PDCP data unit associated with the RLC data unit.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to determine a remaining time of the discard timer before the transmitting.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the DSR MAC CE further indicates the remaining time.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to receive remaining time information, wherein the remaining time information indicates a shortest remaining time value of a discard timer of a PDCP data unit among one or more PDCP data units.
