SEPTIC TREATMENT SYSTEM
A septic treatment system includes a dispensing apparatus and a computing device that controls the dispensing apparatus through a communication link to dispense a septic treatment composition according to a dispensing operation sequence that is selected based on processing external data received from an external device. The septic treatment system may be configured to dispense the septic treatment composition into a septic tank through one or more drain lines. The external data may include cartridge data associated with a cartridge from which the dispensing apparatus is configured to receive the septic treatment composition. The selected dispensing operation sequence may be selected based on being associated with a particular cartridge group identifier code that may be determined based on the cartridge data.
1 . A septic treatment system, the septic treatment system comprising:
a dispensing apparatus; and
a computing device, the computing device communicatively coupled to the dispensing apparatus through a communication link, the computing device configured to control the dispensing apparatus through the communication link to cause the dispensing apparatus to dispense a septic treatment composition according to a selected dispensing operation sequence from among at least a plurality of dispensing operation sequences, the selected dispensing operation sequence selected based on processing external data received from an external device, each dispensing operation sequence of the plurality of dispensing operation sequences associated with at least one of a separate dispensing operation frequency, a separate amount of septic treatment composition dispensed per dispensing operation, or a separate maximum dispensing operation quantity.
2 . The septic treatment system of claim 1 , wherein:
the dispensing apparatus includes an outlet port,
the dispensing apparatus is configured to dispense the septic treatment composition through the outlet port, and
the outlet port is coupled in fluid communication with a septic tank of a septic waste system through one or more drain lines of a drain line system such that the septic treatment system is configured to dispense the septic treatment composition into the septic tank through the one or more drain lines based on the computing device causing the dispensing apparatus to dispense the septic treatment composition according to the selected dispensing operation sequence, the one or more drain lines including at least one of a greywater drain line or a blackwater drain line.
3 . The septic treatment system of claim 1 , wherein:
the dispensing apparatus is configured to dispense the septic treatment composition based on receiving the septic treatment composition from one of a plurality of cartridges, each cartridge of the plurality of cartridges associated with one of a plurality of cartridge groups, each cartridge group associated with a separate cartridge group identifier code among a plurality of cartridge group identifier codes;
the plurality of dispensing operation sequences are associated with separate, respective cartridge group identifier codes among the plurality of cartridge group identifier codes;
the external data includes cartridge data indicating a particular cartridge group identifier code among the plurality of cartridge group identifier codes; and
the computing device is configured to control the dispensing apparatus through the communication link to cause the dispensing apparatus to dispense the septic treatment composition according to the selected dispensing operation sequence based on:
processing the cartridge data to identify the particular cartridge group identifier code from among the plurality of cartridge group identifier codes, and
selecting a particular dispensing operation sequence from among at least the plurality of dispensing operation sequences as the selected dispensing operation sequence based on determining that the particular cartridge group identifier code is associated with the particular dispensing operation sequence.
4 . The septic treatment system of claim 3 , wherein the plurality of cartridge groups hold different, respective septic treatment compositions.
5 . The septic treatment system of claim 4 , wherein:
the different, respective septic treatment compositions include different concentrations of one or more microorganisms.
6 . The septic treatment system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a sensor device communicatively coupled to the computing device, the sensor device configured to generate sensor data based on monitoring at least a portion of a septic system, the septic system including a septic tank, the sensor device configured to transmit the sensor data to the computing device,
wherein the computing device is configured to select the selected dispensing operation sequence based on processing the sensor data to determine at least one property of the septic system, the at least one property including at least one of:
a level of waste within the septic tank,
a level of waste within a drain field of the septic system,
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients within a drain field of the septic system,
a presence, level, or concentration of liquid in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof, or
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof.
7 . The septic treatment system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a sensor device communicatively coupled to the computing device, the sensor device configured to generate sensor data based on monitoring at least a portion of a septic system, the septic system including a septic tank, the sensor device configured to transmit the sensor data to the computing device,
wherein the computing device is configured to transmit a signal to a remote device based on processing the sensor data to determine at least one property associated with the septic system, the signal including status information indicating a status of the septic system, the at least one property including at least one of:
a level of waste within the septic tank,
a level of liquid within a drain field of the septic system,
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients within a drain field of the septic system,
a presence, level, or concentration of liquid in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof, or
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof.

The septic treatment system of claim 1 , wherein the computing device is configured to cause the dispensing apparatus to perform an interrupt dispensing operation independently of the selected dispensing operation sequence, in response to the computing device receiving a signal from a remote device.
9 . The septic treatment system of claim 1 , wherein the computing device is configured to:
associate the dispensing apparatus with the selected dispensing operation sequence;
track a quantity of dispensing operations performed by the dispensing apparatus according to the selected dispensing operation sequence; and
in response to determining that the quantity of dispensing operations at least meets a threshold quantity, command at least one of purchase or delivery of a new cartridge to a mailing address associated with the dispensing apparatus based on an ordering parameter associated with the selected dispensing operation sequence, the new cartridge associated with either:
the selected dispensing operation sequence, or
a different dispensing operation sequence.
10 . A computing device for a septic treatment system, the computing device comprising:
a communication interface configured to establish a communication link with a dispensing apparatus;
a memory storing a program of instructions; and
a processor configured to execute the program of instructions to,
cause the computing device to control the dispensing apparatus through the communication link to cause the dispensing apparatus to dispense a septic treatment composition according to a selected dispensing operation sequence from among at least a plurality of dispensing operation sequences, the selected dispensing operation sequence selected based on processing external data received from an external device, each dispensing operation sequence of the plurality of dispensing operation sequences associated with at least one of a separate dispensing operation frequency, a separate amount of septic treatment composition dispensed per dispensing operation, or a separate maximum dispensing operation quantity.
11 . The computing device of claim 10 , wherein:
the dispensing apparatus is configured to dispense the septic treatment composition based on receiving the septic treatment composition from one of a plurality of cartridges, each cartridge of the plurality of cartridges associated with one of a plurality of cartridge groups, each cartridge group associated with a separate cartridge group identifier code among a plurality of cartridge group identifier codes;
the plurality of dispensing operation sequences are associated with separate, respective cartridge group identifier codes among the plurality of cartridge group identifier codes;
the external data includes cartridge data indicating a particular cartridge group identifier code among the plurality of cartridge group identifier codes; and
the processor is configured to execute the program of instructions to:
process the cartridge data to identify the particular cartridge group identifier code from among the plurality of cartridge group identifier codes, and
select a particular dispensing operation sequence from among at least the plurality of dispensing operation sequences as the selected dispensing operation sequence based on determining that the particular cartridge group identifier code is associated with the particular dispensing operation sequence.
12 . The computing device of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of cartridge groups hold different, respective septic treatment compositions.
13 . The computing device of claim 12 , wherein:
the different, respective septic treatment compositions include different concentrations of one or more microorganisms.
14 . The computing device of claim 10 , wherein:
the communication interface is configured to establish a separate communication link with a sensor device such that the computing device is configured to receive sensor data from the sensor device based on the sensor device monitoring at least a portion of a septic system, the septic system including a septic tank;
the external data includes the sensor data received from the sensor device, and
the processor is configured to execute the program of instructions to select the selected dispensing operation sequence based on processing the sensor data to determine at least one property of the septic system, the at least one property including at least one of:
a level of waste within the septic tank,
a level of liquid within a drain field of the septic system,
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients within a drain field of the septic system,
a presence, level, or concentration of liquid in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof, or
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof.
15 . The computing device of claim 10 , wherein:
the communication interface is configured to establish a separate communication link with a sensor device such that the computing device is configured to receive sensor data from the sensor device based on the sensor device monitoring at least a portion of a septic system, the septic system including a septic tank; and
the processor is configured to execute the program of instructions to cause the computing device to transmit a signal to a remote device based on processing the sensor data to determine at least one property associated with the septic system, the signal including status information indicating a status of the septic system, the at least one property including at least one of:
a level of waste within the septic tank,
a level of liquid within a drain field of the septic system,
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients within a drain field of the septic system,
a presence, level, or concentration of liquid in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof, or
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof.

The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the processor is configured to execute the program of instructions to cause the computing device to transmit a dispensing control signal to the dispensing apparatus to cause the dispensing apparatus to perform an interrupt dispensing operation independently of the selected dispensing operation sequence, in response to the computing device receiving a signal from a remote device.
17 . The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the processor is configured to execute the program of instructions to:
associate the dispensing apparatus with the selected dispensing operation sequence;
track a quantity of dispensing operations performed by the dispensing apparatus according to the selected dispensing operation sequence; and
in response to determining that the quantity of dispensing operations at least meets a threshold quantity, command at least one of purchase or delivery of a new cartridge to an address associated with the dispensing apparatus based on an ordering parameter associated with the selected dispensing operation sequence, the new cartridge associated with either of:
the selected dispensing operation sequence, or
a different dispensing operation sequence.
18 . A method for controlling a septic treatment system, the method comprising:
receiving external data from an external device through a first communication link; and
transmitting a control signal to a dispensing apparatus through a second communication link to cause the dispensing apparatus to dispense a septic treatment composition according to a selected dispensing operation sequence from among at least a plurality of dispensing operation sequences, the selected dispensing operation sequence selected based on processing the external data, each dispensing operation sequence of the plurality of dispensing operation sequences associated with at least one of a separate dispensing operation frequency, a separate amount of septic treatment composition dispensed per dispensing operation, or a separate maximum dispensing operation quantity.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein:
the dispensing apparatus is configured to dispense the septic treatment composition based on receiving the septic treatment composition from one of a plurality of cartridges, each cartridge of the plurality of cartridges associated with one of a plurality of cartridge groups, each cartridge group associated with a separate cartridge group identifier code among a plurality of cartridge group identifier codes;
the plurality of dispensing operation sequences are associated with separate, respective cartridge group identifier codes among the plurality of cartridge group identifier codes;
the external data includes cartridge data indicating a particular cartridge group identifier code among the plurality of cartridge group identifier codes; and
the method includes:
processing the cartridge data to identify the particular cartridge group identifier code from among the plurality of cartridge group identifier codes, and
selecting a particular dispensing operation sequence from among at least the plurality of dispensing operation sequences as the selected dispensing operation sequence based on determining that the particular cartridge group identifier code is associated with the particular dispensing operation sequence.
20 . The method of claim 18 , wherein:
the external data includes sensor data received from a sensor device based on the sensor device monitoring at least a portion of a septic system, the septic system including a septic tank, and
the method includes selecting the selected dispensing operation sequence based on processing the sensor data to determine at least one property of the septic system, the at least one property including at least one of:
a level of waste within the septic tank,
a level of liquid within a drain field of the septic system,
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients within a drain field of the septic system,
a presence, level, or concentration of liquid in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof, or
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof.
21 . The method of claim 18 , wherein:
the method includes transmitting a signal to a remote device based on processing sensor data received from a sensor device to determine at least one property associated with a septic system, the sensor data received based on the sensor device monitoring at least a portion of the septic system, the septic system including a septic tank, the signal including status information indicating a status of the septic system, the at least one property including at least one of:
a level of waste within the septic tank,
a level of liquid within a drain field of the septic system,
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients within a drain field of the septic system,
a presence, level, or concentration of liquid in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof, or
at least one of a presence or concentration of bacteria and/or nutrients in soil within a threshold proximity of the septic tank, a drain field of the septic system, or any combination thereof.
22 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising:
transmitting a dispensing control signal to the dispensing apparatus to cause the dispensing apparatus to perform an interrupt dispensing operation independently of the selected dispensing operation sequence, in response to receiving a signal from a remote device.
23 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising:
associating the dispensing apparatus with the selected dispensing operation sequence;
tracking a quantity of dispensing operations performed by the dispensing apparatus according to the selected dispensing operation sequence; and
in response to determining that the quantity of dispensing operations at least meets a threshold quantity, commanding at least one of purchase or delivery of a new cartridge to a mailing address associated with the dispensing apparatus based on an ordering parameter associated with the selected dispensing operation sequence, the new cartridge associated with either:
the selected dispensing operation sequence, or
a different dispensing operation sequence.
