SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPERATING MULTIPLE CLIENT PRINTING SYSTEMS
A method for operating multiple client printing systems is described. The method includes creating an administration account. The method also includes instantiating a printing manager instance for each of the multiple client printing systems. The multiple client printing systems are associated with the administration account. The method further includes presenting a data structure comprising an object associated with each of the multiple client printing systems. The method additionally includes determining license usage data for the multiple client printing systems based on the printing manager instances. The method also includes presenting the license usage data.
1 . A method for operating multiple client printing systems, comprising:
creating an administration account associated with a service provider;
associating, with the administration account, a plurality of printing manager instances, each printing manager instance corresponding to a respective client printing system of a different client;
periodically determining, by a computing device and based on each of the plurality of printing manager instances, a number of installed printers for each respective client printing system;
aggregating the numbers of installed printers across the plurality of printing manager instances to determine a total number of installed printers across the plurality of client printing systems; and
generating, for the administration account, a bill for a billing cycle based on the total number of installed printers.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the bill comprises:
computing, over the billing cycle, an average of the total number of installed printers across the plurality of client printing systems; and
generating the bill based on the computed average.
3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising computing an average number of installed printers over the billing cycle for each of the plurality of client printing systems individually.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising presenting a data structure comprising an object associated with each of the plurality of client printing systems.
5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising determining one or more folders for the data structure, wherein each of the one or more folders includes one or more of the objects associated with one or more of the plurality of client printing systems.
6 . A computing device for operating multiple client printing systems, comprising:
a processor;
memory in electronic communication with the processor; and
instructions stored in the memory, wherein the instructions are executable to:
create an administration account associated with a service provider;
associate, with the administration account, a plurality of printing manager instances, each printing manager instance corresponding to a respective client printing system of a different client;
periodically determine, based on each of the plurality of printing manager instances, a number of installed printers for each respective client printing system;
aggregate the numbers of installed printers across the plurality of printing manager instances to determine a total number of installed printers across the plurality of client printing systems; and
generate, for the administration account, a bill for a billing cycle based on the total number of installed printers.
7 . The computing device of claim 6 , wherein the instructions to generate the bill comprise instructions to:
compute, over the billing cycle, an average of the total number of installed printers across the plurality of client printing systems; and
generate the bill based on the computed average.
8 . The computing device of claim 7 , wherein the instructions are further executable to compute an average number of installed printers over the billing cycle for each of the plurality of client printing systems individually.
9 . The computing device of claim 6 , wherein the instructions are further executable to present a data structure comprising an object associated with each of the plurality of client printing systems.
10 . The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions are further executable to determine one or more folders for the data structure, wherein each of the one or more folders includes one or more of the objects associated with one or more of the plurality of client printing systems.
11 . A non-transitory tangible computer-readable medium storing computer executable code, comprising:
code for causing a computing device to create an administration account associated with a service provider;
code for causing a computing device to associate, with the administration account, a plurality of printing manager instances, each printing manager instance corresponding to a respective client printing system of a different client;
code for causing a computing device to periodically determine, based on each of the plurality of printing manager instances, a number of installed printers for each respective client printing system;
code for causing a computing device to aggregate the numbers of installed printers across the plurality of printing manager instances to determine a total number of installed printers across the plurality of client printing systems; and
code for causing a computing device to generate, for the administration account, a bill for a billing cycle based on the total number of installed printers.
