Abstract

A method includes receiving an emergency contact; determining an emergency deployment, at least in part based on the emergency contact; determining a public safety access point (PSAP), at least in part based on the emergency deployment; and transmitting a PSAP request to the PSAP, at least in part based on the emergency contact.

Claims (55)

1 . A method, comprising:

receiving a registration request from a public safety access point (PSAP), the registration request including a capability of the PSAP and a jurisdiction of the PSAP;

receiving an emergency contact including a location;

determining the PSAP, at least in part based on the capability and the jurisdiction; and

transmitting a PSAP request to the PSAP, at least in part based on the emergency contact.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the capability includes at least one of a communication capability, a language capability, or an emergency service dispatch capability.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the capability includes whether the PSAP can receive text messages.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

converting the emergency contact from a non-voice message to a voice message based on a determination that the PSAP cannot receive text messages.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the registration request includes jurisdictional boundaries for each type of emergency service dispatch.

6 . A method, comprising:

receiving an emergency contact in a first language;

determining the first language of the emergency contact;

determining a public safety access point (PSAP);

determining a second language associated with the PSAP;

translating the emergency contact into the second language to produce a PSAP request; and

transmitting the PSAP request to the PSAP.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein determining the first language comprises comparing words of the emergency contact against a dictionary of words in various languages.

8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein determining the first language comprises determining a language registered in an operating system of a user device that transmitted the emergency contact.

9 . The method of claim 6 , wherein determining the first language comprises determining a language registered in an emergency application of a user device that transmitted the emergency contact.

10 . The method of claim 6 , wherein determining the first language comprises determining one or more languages associated with a location of the emergency contact.

11 . A method, comprising:

receiving an emergency contact in a first language from a user device;

transmitting a PSAP request to a public safety access point (PSAP);

receiving a PSAP reply from the PSAP in a second language;

translating the PSAP reply to the first language to produce an emergency reply; and

transmitting the emergency reply to the user device.

12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

determining a format of the emergency reply based on a format of the emergency contact.

13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:

converting the PSAP reply from a voice message to a non-voice message using speech-to-text technology.

14 . A method, comprising:

receiving an emergency contact as a non-voice message;

determining a public safety access point (PSAP);

determining that the PSAP cannot receive text messages;

converting the emergency contact from the non-voice message to a voice message based on a text-to-speech synthesizer; and

transmitting a PSAP request including the voice message to the PSAP.

15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

adding a transcription of the emergency contact for evidentiary purposes.

16 . A method, comprising:

receiving an emergency contact from a user device;

determining a location of the user device based on geolocation provided by a global navigation satellite system (GNSS);

determining a public safety access point (PSAP) based on the location; and

transmitting a PSAP request to the PSAP, the PSAP request including the location.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the GNSS comprises at least one of GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, Galileo, Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS), or Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS).

18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein determining the location comprises triangulation of the user device by a relay device.

19 . An apparatus, comprising:

a network interface configured to receive a registration request from a public safety access point (PSAP), the registration request including a capability of the PSAP and a jurisdiction of the PSAP, and to receive an emergency contact including a location; and

a processor configured to determine the PSAP at least in part based on the capability and the jurisdiction,

wherein the network interface transmits a PSAP request to the PSAP, at least in part based on the emergency contact.

20 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium including instructions that, when executed by a processor, perform operations comprising:

receiving a registration request from a public safety access point (PSAP), the registration request including a capability of the PSAP and a jurisdiction of the PSAP;

receiving an emergency contact including a location;

determining the PSAP, at least in part based on the capability and the jurisdiction; and

transmitting a PSAP request to the PSAP, at least in part based on the emergency contact.
