Method for managing and controlling external IoT device and electronic device supporting the same
A method and electronic device are disclosed herein. The electronic device includes a display, a communication unit, a processor and a memory storing instructions. The process executes the instructions to implement the method, including establishing wireless communication with one or more IoT devices, displaying a user interface for managing IoT devices, receiving a user input selecting a group of IoT devices, transmitting first information including user account data to an external server, transmitting second information to another device, the first information also indicating a selected group of IoT devices, and the second information causing the other device to communicatively connect with the first external server.
1 . An electronic device comprising:
a display;
a wireless communication circuit;
a processor; and
a memory that stores an application program for managing a plurality of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, the application program including instructions executable by the processor to:
establish wireless communication with one or more IoT devices by using the wireless communication circuit;
display a user interface for managing the one or more IoT devices through the display, wherein a first user interface includes a list for a first user input selecting IoT devices from among the one or more IoT devices to form a group, and wherein a second user interface includes a field into which account information associated with a user of another electronic device is entered, and an object for sending a Short Message Service (SMS) message;
when the account information is entered into the field and confirmed on the second user interface, transmit first information including user account data of the electronic device, group information indicating the selected IoT devices forming the group and the account information or a telephone number of the another electronic device to a first external server using the wireless communication circuits;
wherein the first external server transmits a push message to the another electronic device causing the another electronic device to communicatively connected with the first external server and control the selected IoT devices; and
when the object for sending the SMS message is selected in the second user interface, and
transmit second information including URL information for downloading the application program to the another electronic device using the SMS message by the wireless communication circuit,
wherein the second information causes the another electronic device to communicatively connect with the first external server and control the selected IoT devices.
2 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the second information is transmitted using at least one of account information associated with the another electronic device and the telephone number of the another electronic device.
3 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of IoT devices are divided into a plurality of groups.
4 . The electronic device of claim 3 , wherein the instructions are executable by the processor to divide the plurality of IoT devices into the plurality of groups, based on locations where the plurality of IoT devices are located.
5 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions are executable by the processor to:
share at least one of a security code generated in the electronic device and the first external server with another electronic device.
6 . The electronic device of claim 5 , wherein the security code is a personal identification number (PIN) code or a quick response (QR) code.
7 . The electronic device of claim 5 , wherein the instructions are executable by the processor to:
transmit the security code to the another electronic device using short-range communication.
8 . The electronic device of claim 5 , wherein the instructions are executable by the processor to:
when the security code is generated in the first external server, add a dummy code to the generated security code; and
transmit the generated security code to which the dummy code is added to the another electronic device.
9 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions are executable by the processor to:
receive a request from the another electronic device to control the one or more IoT devices; and
responsive to receiving an input confirming the request, transmitting the first information.
10 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions are executable by the processor to:
after sending the SMS message, transmit third information including the user account data, the group information and the telephone number of the another electronic device to the first external server using the wireless communication circuit in the background.
11. A server comprising:
a wireless communication circuit;
a memory; and
a processor electrically connected to the memory and the wireless communication circuit;
wherein the processor is configured to:
receive setting information for controlling one or more home appliances from a first electronic device through the wireless communication circuit;
store the setting information in the memory in association with first identification information of the first electronic device and/or a first user account associated with the first electronic device;
receive, from the first electronic device, a request for sharing at least a portion of the setting information with a second electronic device through the wireless communiation circuit;
generate a quick response (QR) code based on the request;
transmit the generated QR code to the first electronic device through the wireless communication circuit;
receive, from the second electronic device, information on the QR code and a second user account through the wireless communication circuit; and
store at least a portion of the setting information in the memory in association with a second identification information of the second electronic device and/or the second user account.
12. The server of claim 11 , wherein the setting information includes identification of the one or more home appliances or information about a group classifying the one or more home appliances.
13. The server of claim 12 , wherein the information about the group is determined based on a place where the one or more home appliances are disposed.
14. The server of claim 11 , wherein the request includes the first identification information and/or the first user account.
15. The server of claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to transmit the at least a portion of the setting information to the second electronic device through the wireless communication circuit.
16. The server of claim 15 , wherein the processor is configured to transmit at least one of the first user account, identification information of the one or more home appliances, or information about a group for classifying the one or more home appliances, through the wireless communication circuit to the second electronic device.
17. The server of claim 11 , wherein a control authority that the second electronic device has with respect to the one or more home appliances is equal to or less than a control authority that the first electronic device has with respect to the one or more home appliances.
18. A server comprising:
a wireless communication circuit;
a memory; and
a processor electrically connected to the memory and the wireless communication circuit;
wherein the processor is configured to:
receive setting information for controlling one or more home appliances from a first electronic device through the wireless communication circuit,
store the setting information in the memory in association with first identification information of the first electronic device and/or a first user account associated with the first electronic device;
receive, from the first electronic device, a request for inviting a second electronic device through the wireless communication circuit;
transmit a quick response (QR) code to the first electronic device based on the request through the wireless communication circuit;
receive information on the QR code and a second user account from the second electronic device through the wireless communication circuit; and
store at least a portion of the setting information in the memory in association with second identification information of the second electronic device and/or the second user account.
19. The server of claim 18 , wherein the setting information includes identification information of the one or more home appliances or information about a group classifying the one or more home appliances.
20. The server of claim 19 , wherein the information about the group is determined based on a place in which the one or more home appliances are disposed.
21. The server of claim 19 , wherein the request includes the first identification information and/or the first user account.
22. The server of claim 19 , wherein the processor is configured to receive the second user account and transmit at least a portion of the setting information to the second electronic device, through the wireless communication circuit.
23. A server comprising:
a wireless communication circuit;
a memory; and
a processor electrically connected to the memory and the wireless communication circuit;
wherein the processor is configured to:
receive setting information for controlling one or more home appliances from a first electronic device through the wireless communication circuit;
store the setting information in the memory in association with the first identification information of the first electronic device and/or a first user account associated with the first electronic device;
receive a request for a quick response (QR) code including the first identification information and/or the first user account from the first electronic device through the wireless communication circuit;
receive information about the QR code and a second user account from a second electronic device through the wireless communication circuit,
store at least a portion of the setting information in the memory in association with second identification information of the second electronic device and/or the second user account.
24. The server of claim 23 , wherein the setting information includes identification information of the one or more home appliances or information about a group classifying the one or more home appliances.
25. The server of claim 24 ,
wherein the request further includes the setting information, and
wherein the processor is configured to generate the QR code based on the request, and transmit the QR code to the first electronic device through the wireless communication circuit.
26. A method for managing and controlling an external device, performed by a server, comprising:
receiving, through a wireless communication circuit of the server, setting information for controlling one or more home appliances from a first electronic device;
storing the setting information in a memory of the server in association with first identification information of the first electronic device and/or a first user account associated with the first electronic device;
receiving a request for sharing at least a portion of the setting information with a second electronic device from the first electronic device through the wireless communication circuit;
generating a quick response (QR) code based on the request;
transmitting the generated QR code to the first electronic device through the wireless communication circuit;
receiving information about the QR code and a second user account from the second electronic device through the wireless communication circuit; and
storing at least a portion of the setting information in the memory in association with second identification information of the second electronic device and/or the second user account.
27. The method of claim 26 , wherein the setting information includes identification information of the one or more home appliances or information about a group classifying the one or more home appliances.
28. The method of claim 26 , wherein the request includes the first identification information and/or the first user account.
29. The method of claim 26 , further comprising:
transmitting at least a portion of the setting information to the second electronic device.
30. The method of claim 29 , wherein the portion of the setting information includes at least one of the first user account, identification information of the one or more home appliances, or information about a group for classifying the one or more home appliances.
