Abstract

An intrasaccular device particularly adapted for treating body lumens. The intrasaccular device includes structure that provides a strong framework as well as improved covering across an opening to an aneurysm sac. The intrasaccular device is intended to retain foreign bodies within the aneurysm sac and includes members for accomplishing this objective. The intrasaccular device is also provided with structure that facilitates the alignment of a plurality of devices deployed within the sac.

Claims (21)

1. A system for treating a saccular cavity of a patient, comprising:

a first intrasaccular device, the first intrasaccular device having a first set of members configured into a clockwise spiral;

a second intrasaccular device formed separately and defining structure separate and distinct from the first intrasaccular device, the second intrasaccular device having a second set of members configured into a counterclockwise spiral;

a non-attaching configuration wherein in said non-attaching configuration the first and second intrasaccular devices are separate and non-attached to each other;

an attaching configuration wherein in said attaching configuration the first and second intrasaccular devices cooperate to form a crossing mesh pattern; and

wherein the first and second intrasaccular devices are configured to be separately and unconnectedly delivered to the saccular cavity.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein each of first and second intrasaccular devices include a body.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the body is self expandable.

4. The system of claim 1 , the first intrasaccular device further including a first end, a second end and a midsection.

5. The system of claim 4 , the first intrasaccular device further including a first connecting structure formed at the second end.

6. The system of claim 5 , the second intrasaccular device further including a first connecting structure formed at the second end.

7. The system of claim 6 , the second intrasaccular device further including a second connecting structure formed at the second end.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the first and second connecting structures cooperate to facilitate an even distribution within the saccular cavity.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first intrasaccular device is formed from a monolithic structure.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second intrasaccular device is formed from a monolithic structure.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second intrasaccular devices are formed from monolithic structures.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first intrasaccular device defines a generally spherical shape.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second intrasaccular device defines a generally spherical shape.

14. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first and second intrasaccular devices each define a generally spherical shape.

15. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a catheter and the first and second intrasaccular devices can each assume a compressed configuration and an expanded configuration.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the catheter retains the first and second intrasaccular devices in the compressed configuration.
